Optimism Prevails At IWPA’s 70th World Of Wood Convention Despite Trade Policy Uncertainty
Tariffs, Economic Outlook Shape Discussions as More Than 200 Attendees Gather at The Broadmoor
The International Wood Products Association (IWPA), located in Alexandria, VA, recently celebrated its 70th World of Wood Convention, which was held this year at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, CO. More than 200 attendees gathered in the scenic mountain setting for three days of industry insights, networking and collaboration, reinforcing the convention’s role as a cornerstone event for the global wood products sector.
World of Wood brings together importers, U.S. manufacturers, wholesalers, offshore suppliers and service providers from more than 20 countries for this premier annual event—designed to support relationship-building, business development and actionable takeaways on trade policy.
Tariffs and broader economic conditions were central themes throughout the convention, as attendees engaged in candid discussions about trade policy and the outlook for global markets. Despite some apprehension, participants expressed optimism rooted in the strength of industry relationships and IWPA’s leadership. The agenda featured sessions on trade policy and tariffs, regulatory compliance, global market trends and supply chain dynamics—alongside discussions on leadership and organizational resilience in a period of economic uncertainty.
“This year’s World of Wood Convention showcased both the resilience and unity of our industry,” said IWPA Executive Director Ashley Amidon. “While there is understandable concern around economic uncertainty and evolving tariff policies, what stood out most was the strong sense of camaraderie and shared mission among our members.”
Against the backdrop of one of the nation’s most iconic resorts, this year’s convention combined high-level programming with the natural beauty of Colorado Springs, creating an ideal environment for meaningful dialogue and connection across the industry.
The opening keynote featured Sheri Jacobs, author, researcher, and CEO of Avenue M Group, who shared insights drawn from surveying more than one million people and working with hundreds of organizations. Her remarks focused on how resilient cultures and high-performing leadership teams thrive amid uncertainty. The conference also welcomed speakers from U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. State Department, and several speakers from the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
Throughout the event, attendees took part in IWPA’s signature networking opportunities and programming, continuing the association’s decades-long tradition of connecting buyers, suppliers, and service providers across the global supply chain.
IWPA extended its sincere thanks to all the sponsors and exhibitors who participated in this year’s convention for their valuable contributions in showcasing products, services, and innovations that support the global wood products industry.
