Elk Creek Forest Products Markets Douglas Fir

Aaron Fleming

Aaron Fleming is a sales representative and buyer for Elk Creek Forest Products, based in McMinnville, OR.

Marketing more than 100 million board feet annually, Elk Creek Forest Products is a distributor and lumber processor that deals in Green Douglas Fir and kiln-dried lumber in all sizes 1-inch through 16-inch and 8-foot through 40-foot in No.1 Better, No. 2 Better, Select Struct, Dense Grain, FOHC and Box Heart. Elk Creek’s available finishes include full sawn rough, standard sawn rough, resawn and surfaced and the company also offers custom milling, custom PET and options for customers to customize their tallies and “pull to the piece.”

Fleming has enjoyed a 30-plus year career in the forest products industry. After graduating from Siuslaw High School in Florence, OR, Fleming spent eight years at a local retail lumber yard where he worked his way from yard helper to contractor sales and buyer. Over the following 20 years, Fleming worked in sales and management with two well-known forest products companies before finding a home with Elk Creek three years ago.

When he isn’t working or spending time with his wife of 28 years, Crystal Fleming, or their two sons, Cody and Tanner, he enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, golf and bowling.

Elk Creek Forest Products maintains memberships with the North American Wholesale Lumber Association, Portland Wholesale Lumber Association, Timber Framers Guild and the Forest Stewardship Council.

Partap Produces Western Red Cedar

Dan Griffiths

Dan Griffiths is a sales representative at Partap Forest Products, located in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Partap produces over 100 million board feet and is a primary manufacturer of lumber for North America, Asia and Europe.

They carry Western Red Cedar in two-inches, rougher headed and surfaced on four sides in addition to 4 through 12-inch timbers, fence boards, green and kiln-dried boards/siding, as well as pattern stock. They also offer 5/4 inch and two-inch, kiln-dried and green decking.

While Griffiths has been with Partap since July of 2024, he has been in the forest products industry for 39 years. His first position was in Cedar lumber sales at City Lumber, a Western Red Cedar manufacturer in Surrey, British Columbia. He has 30 years of experience in sales and purchasing, including nine years as a national buyer for Macmillan Bloedel/ Weyerhaeuser.

Griffiths went to college at the University of Victoria in Victoria, British Columbia.

His interests include hockey, fishing, hunting, cycling and building houses. He has been married to Patricia for 37 years and has one son, two daughters and one grandson.

Partap Forest Products is a member of the North American Wholesale Lumber Association and the Western Red Cedar Lumber Association.

Thompson River Lumber Offers Inland Lumber
Species

Laura Ganatos

Laura Ganatos is a sales and marketing representative at Thompson River Lumber, based in Thompson Falls, MT.

Thompson River is a sawmill that offers inland lumber species, such as Douglas Fir, Douglas Fir-Larch, Ponderosa Pine, White Fir, Spruce-Pine-Fir (South) and Engelman-Spruce-Lodgepole Pine. These species are offered as kiln-dried heat treated in dimensions of 2×4 through 2×12, Select Struct, Nos. 2, 3 and Economy, and boards 1×4 through 1×12, No. 2 and Better and Nos. 3, 4 and 5. Thompson River also offers pattern stock including WP4/116, WP4/Nic gap, WP4 flat back, plus others.

Ganatos has been in the forest products industry for 44 years, with her first job being in the Inland Northwest where she learned the meaning of pivoting in the industry. She has been with Thompson River for 15 years.

Ganatos enjoys boating, reading, raising flowers and volunteering for the local huckleberry festival. She has been married to her husband Nick for 14 years.

Thompson River Lumber is a member of the Western Wood Products Association, Montana Loggers Association, North American Wholesale Lumber Association, Timber Products Manufacturers Association and the American Tree Farm Association.

KDS Windsor, Dry Kiln Specialists

Patrick Godfrey

Patrick Godfrey is the vice president of sales and service at KDS Windsor, located in Hendersonville, NC, and Philadelphia, MS. KDS Windsor specializes in designing, manufacturing, and installing lumber dry kilns, track kilns, package kilns, kiln controls, heat plants, dry shavings burners and high-pressure material handling systems for both softwood and hardwood clients.

Their team is comprised of design engineers, field engineers and a mechanical services group. The company serves North America and extends its global reach through its sister company, Windsor Group.

KDS Windsor’s product offerings include traditional Steel Series CDKs and Batch Kilns, Performance Series CDKs, proprietary in-kiln moisture measurement systems with automatic push control in CDKs, a patented dual return duct and the industry-leading DrySpec® controls. Notably, they operate the largest Green Saw Dust Gasifier at 50MM BTU/HR (10 grate) and have CDKs with a drying capacity of over 300MM board feet per year in a single kiln.

Godfrey has been with KDS Windsor for five years and has held his current position for one year. With over five years in the lumber industry and 10 years in field service, his career began as a field service engineer. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Geological Science from East Carolina University and has served in the Marine Corps. In his leisure time, Godfrey enjoys traveling, golfing and spending time with friends and family at local breweries.
