Southern Cypress Promotion And Education Continues 1

In June, members of the Southern Cypress Manufacturers Association (SCMA), along with promotion sponsors, gathered for a 2025 Update Meeting at the Marriott Knoxville Downtown in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The event was held in conjunction with the Hardwood Manufacturers Association’s 2025 National Conference and Expo. Attendees received an update on Cypress promotion initiatives, discussed on-going projects, and enjoyed a networking dinner. Keep reading for a brief recap.

This year, the SCMA is focusing its promotion efforts on producing editorial content. As of the time of writing this column, the SCMA published two articles, titled Storage Stunners for Every Room of Your Home and 5 Tips to Flip Your Home from Drab to Fab. The articles earned at least 5,050 placements in print and online news outlets, reaching a combined audience of 368 million potential readers in all 50 states. The SCMA plans on publishing at least three more editorial features this year to showcase interior and exterior cypress applications.

The SCMA also is developing a continuing education unit (CEU) for architects. Once it’s completed, the course will be made available as an on-demand offering through America Training Solutions and promoted to design professionals.

Later this year, the SCMA will host a Mid-Year Meeting during the National Hardwood Lumber Association’s Annual Convention in San Antonio, Texas, October 1–3. Save the dates and consider attending to learn more about the SCMA and its work to promote Cypress.

If your company is engaged in the manufacture, further processing, or distribution of Cypress products, then reach out to Ian Faight at ian@hardwood.org to discuss SCMA membership and its benefits. Join the effort to promote Cypress products to consumer and design professionals.
