Reflecting On 2024 And Looking Ahead: WCMA’s Commitment To Member Growth And Industry Connection

As we wrap up 2024, I am filled with gratitude for the many ways the Wood Component Manufacturers Association (WCMA) has been able to support its members this year. From valuable networking opportunities to engaging industry events and insightful plant tours, it’s been an exciting and productive year for the WCMA community.

A Year of Networking and Knowledge Sharing

This year, WCMA members had the opportunity to connect and learn from each other in a variety of settings. In the spring, we came together to tour manufacturing facilities near Auburn, ME. The tours provided a firsthand look at the latest advancements in manufacturing and an opportunity to exchange ideas with peers.

Our participation in the International Woodworking Fair (IWF) in August was another highlight. We enjoyed meeting both existing and potential members and discussing the challenges and opportunities facing the industry. The Fall Conference, held in the Waterloo, IA area, was well attended and offered yet another chance for members to visit a range of manufacturing facilities.

Looking Ahead: The 2025 Spring Conference and Tours

One of the key takeaways from this year was the recognition that Fall is an especially busy time for our members in the industry. In response to this feedback, the WCMA leadership has decided to move our flagship event to the Spring in 2025. This new timing will allow for more participation and a greater focus on plant tours, which continue to be a cornerstone of our events. We’ll offer ample networking opportunities for members to connect with peers and industry professionals alike.

This year, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be touring manufacturing facilities in Pennsylvania. There are numerous outstanding facilities in the area that will be open for tours, and we look forward to seeing the progress made since our last visit in 2014. Please visit our website for the latest details www.wcma.com.

Additionally, we’re exploring the possibility of hosting a one-day event that will allow us to showcase state-of-the-art facilities in regions where a multi-day conference may not be feasible. If your company is interested in hosting a tour or if you know of a company that would be a great stop on our tour schedule, please reach out to us.

Promoting the Real American Hardwood Coalition (RAHC)

As a founding contributor to the Real American Hardwood Coalition (RAHC), WCMA is deeply committed to promoting American hardwoods and supporting our domestic hardwood manufacturers. The RAHC’s mission is simple but powerful: “With widespread support, the Real American Hardwood Coalition (RAHC) unites the collective efforts and resources of the industry to advance American hardwoods as the Naturally Authentic™ choice.”

Thanks to WCMA’s financial backing, our members are encouraged to use the RAHC logo on qualifying products, helping to build consumer recognition of this premium brand. This partnership is an exciting opportunity for our members to differentiate their products and contribute to the growing recognition of American hardwoods as the sustainable, high-quality choice for consumers.

Why Join WCMA? The Benefits of Membership

If you’re not yet a member of WCMA, you’re missing out on numerous benefits that can help grow your business and increase your industry knowledge. Here are just a few reasons to join:

• Networking and Information Exchange: WCMA offers unparalleled access to industry experts across North America. Whether you’re seeking insight on the latest trends or need advice on operational challenges, our network is a valuable resource for growth and innovation.

• New Business Opportunities: Through our Member Match program, WCMA acts as a clearinghouse for sales inquiries from component and dimension buyers. These leads are shared with all our members, providing new business opportunities that might not otherwise be available.

• Unique Industry Events: Our events, including plant tours and conferences, offer members a chance to learn how others in the industry are tackling challenges and implementing successful strategies. It’s a great way to stay informed and engaged in the latest industry developments.

• National and International Promotion: WCMA also helps promote its members at trade shows and through the Wood Component Buyer’s Guide, which features member capabilities and contact information. These efforts generate valuable sales leads and raise the profile of WCMA members across the industry.
