In Memoriam 1

Bronson Shonk passed away on June 28, 2023, supported by his loving family.

Bronson began his career in the lumber industry by completing a Masters of Science in Forestry from the University of New Hampshire in 1973. From there, he attended the NHLA Lumber Inspection school where he graduated from the 63rd class in December 1977.

After graduation Bronson moved to Western Pennsylvania and began grading lumber for Babcock Lumber Company in Champion, PA. Over the next 30 years he worked for American Lumber Co., Matson Lumber Co., Brown Timber Co., and finished his career with Gutchess Lumber Co. in Latrobe, PA.

Bronson spent much of this time traveling many miles calling on mills, telling stories and laughing with colleagues and customers. As much as he was loved in the industry, he was also a devout family man and especially loved the time spent raising seven children with his wife Mary.

Bronson’s family inherited his love of golf, skiing, and tennis. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, integrity, and generosity of spirit.

Remembrances are welcome at bshonk39@gmail.com.
