Salamanca Lumber Co. Inc. Installs New Stacker
Salamanca Lumber Co. Inc. recently installed a new stacker made by TS Manufacturing and according to the Salamanca Lumber President, Reinier Taapken, “It’s been working great for us.” They also installed a new Fulton boiler.
At their Salamanca, NY, headquarters, the company has a total of 23 dry kilns, a 600,000 foot predryer and also offers straight-line-ripping and surfacing. Red and White Oak in 4/4 through 12/4 is their focus.
Salamanca Lumber has customers around the world and over 90 percent of those customers are importers, wholesalers or distribution yards. “We pride ourselves in supplying them with a product that they can resell,” said Taapken.
Salamanca Lumber was officially incorporated in 1977 but their Netherlands-based parent company, LTL Woodproducts, began in 1894. LTL Woodproducts is the company’s trading name and is operating as a wholesale distributor with dry kilns (8).

AHC Hardwood Group Celebrates New Facility And Lunawood Line
Lunawood LLC recently hosted a ribbon-cutting celebration to mark the first quarter of U.S. production of the Lunawood North America line at the new thermal modification plant at the AHC Hardwood Group facility in Cleveland, GA. Lunawood LLC is the joint venture between Atlanta Hardwood Corporation and Finland-based Oy Lunawood Ltd that oversees the procurement, production and sales of thermally modified products across North America.
In the first quarter of production, the operation has completed more than 20 charges of Lunawood at the U.S. facility with successful runs of Poplar and Ash. These are the first ever U.S.-produced runs of Lunawood. A dedicated team of five full-time employees manages moisture conditioning and tightly controls the thermal process to exacting standards.
The joint venture combines Lunawood’s expertise in thermal modification, production, quality control and commercialization with Atlanta Hardwood’s market knowledge,
logistics and profiling facilities.

Todd Gibson Hired By Piche Inc.
Todd Gibson was recently hired as a sales representative for Daveluyville, QC-based, equipment manufacturer Piche Inc. Piche offers sorters, fences, stackers, lumber conveyors and unscramblers.
As a sales representative, Gibson, who resides in Philadelphia, MS, covers the following states: Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. Gibson also acts as an advisor by “partnering with customers to understand their challenges and expectations for their capital projects. Throughout the process, we develop a clear scope of work, correct timelines, and correct resources to ensure a successful project.”
Gibson has been with Piche for three weeks and prior to his employment there, he was a sales account manager at MiCROTEC and a value manager at Weyerhaeuser. Weyerhaeuser was his first job in the industry, and he started in June of 2003. He was there for 21 years.
Gibson graduated from Neshoba Central High School in Philadelphia, MS, in 2001. He attended college at the British Columbia Institute of Technology and received a Wood Product Certificate from trade school.
He enjoys watching Mississippi State sports, hunting and bowling.

DO2 Welcomes Mathieu Laflamme As New Sales Director
Dolbeau Oxygene, better known as DO2, a leader in the design and manufacturing of equipment for the forestry industry located in Dolbeau-Mistassini, QC, recently announced the appointment of Mathieu Laflamme as sales director for the DO2 Group, which includes DO2 Industrial as well as its automation division, DO2 Control.
Laflamme has over 20 years of experience in sales and market development, primarily in wood product marketing and equipment for sawmills and planermills. After a quick jump working in the plastics industry in recent years, he is returning to the forestry sector by joining DO2.

Heritage Wood Mills Opens New Manufacturing Facility
Founded in 2018, Heritage Wood Mills, a manufacturer of custom cabinetry and a division of CAM Construction Services, recently announced that it has opened a new manufacturing facility in Glasgow, MO, investing $925,000 and creating 30 new jobs. This new facility is now fully operational.
