Eric Boer

Eric Boer is vice president of Mason’s Mill & Lumber, which is a full-service Hardwood distributor and millwork manufacturer in Houston, TX. He is one of the founding members of the company, which was established in 1989.

Mason’s Mill & Lumber purchases around 4 million BF of domestic and imported Hardwoods annually, in addition to some softwoods. Species stocked include all domestic species in thickness from 4/4 – 16/4, as well as imports such as Spanish Cedar, Ipe, Mahogany, Cumaru and Garapa decking. Products offered include custom moulding, flooring, stair treads, decking and radius millwork.

Boer, the son of a Hardwood importer, grew up in the forest products industry, starting with a summer job in a moulding mill. After completing college, Boer graduated from the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) grading school in Memphis in 1986. He graded lumber at several mills as well as managed a dry kiln/planer mill operation before moving into sales and helping establish Mason’s Mill & Lumber.

He and his wife have two daughters, one son and three grandchildren. In his free time, Boer enjoys boating and fishing along the Texas Gulf coast, where he currently resides.

Mason’s Mill maintains membership in the National Hardwood Lumber Association, where Boer currently serves as a board member, as well as the Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen’s Association, Greater Houston Builders Association and the American Institute of Architects.

Steven Dunning

Steven Dunning is president of Salina Planing Mill Inc. in Salina, KS and also handles lumber purchasing.

Salina Planing Mill is a manufacturer of custom architectural woodwork and commercial casework, purchasing approximately 300,000 board feet annually of Cherry, White Maple, Red and White Oak and Walnut (Select, 4/4 through 10/4, typically kiln-dried to 6-8 percent moisture).

Salina Planing Mill buys certified wood in varying amounts, as well as some Mahogany.

Dunning has worked at Salina Planing Mill for 20 years, the past 14 as president. His first job in the industry was in 1984 as a production worker. A graduate of Halstead High School, Halstead, KS, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS.

The company is a member of the American Subcontractor Association, as well as holding quality certification from the Architectural Woodwork Institute, and chain of custody certification from the Forest Stewardship Council.

Dunning and his wife of 34 years, Brenda, have a son and two daughters.

Tony Gatliff

Tony Gatliff is vice president of sales for Great Lakes Woodworking (GLW) Custom Craftsmanship, located in Detroit, MI.

GLW is a manufacturer of store fixtures and millwork. The company purchases approximately 100,000 board feet per year of Red and White Oak, Walnut, Poplar and Sapele in No. 2 Common and FAS grades.

Value-added products and services offered by GLW include carved door inlays, radius mouldings and sand blasted finishes.

Gatliff has worked at GLW Custom Craftsmanship for 35 years, with a total of 40 years of experience in the home remodeling industry. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education from Western Michigan University, located in Kalamazoo, MI.

GLW Custom Craftsmanship is a member of Shop! and the Architectural Woodwork Institute.

In his spare time, Gatliff enjoys playing hockey, boating, woodworking and travel. He has been married to Margie for 41 years and the couple has two sons: Tony (40) and Brian (37).
