The company purchases an impressive amount of domestic hardwood each year—over one million board feet. “We primarily use domestic species, and we order everything in 4/4, 5/4 and 8/4 thicknesses,” President and CEO Kevin Schlinkmann explained. “We work with trusted distributors for about half of our wood and source the rest directly from mills. Sourcing directly from mills allows us to control quality and pricing, which benefits both us and our customers.”

With a sprawling 100,000 square-foot facility, Witmer Furniture is equipped to handle both large and small projects with ease. “We handle everything from custom retail furniture to larger commercial projects,” Schlinkmann said. “The bulk of our business comes through retail stores, but we’re doing more and more commercial work as well, including projects like a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility and a children’s library.”

“We recently donated a wooden shelving unit to a children’s library,” Schlinkmann shared. “This unit featured cubbies where kids can store backpacks filled with books. It was a great way for us to give back while contributing to a meaningful cause. The positive impact on the community makes these kinds of projects particularly rewarding.”
One of Witmer’s most notable contributions to the commercial sector includes the design and installation of a large-scale, custom furniture setup for a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. “The project is still in the final stages of design, but it’s already clear that it will be an impactful addition to the facility,” Schlinkmann said. “We’re working with the organization to create a comfortable, inviting space for patients to focus on recovery.”
