Hancock Lumber Welcomes Rebecca McCrohan

Team Hancock recently welcomed Rebecca McCrohan as Casco, ME-based, Hancock Lumber’s new general manager of the Damariscotta, ME, location. After an extensive internal and external search, McCrohan stood out not only for her industry experience, but also for her deep alignment with Hancock’s culture, values and philosophy of shared leadership,” stated a Hancock spokesperson.

McCrohan brings over 15 years of retail management experience, most recently at Home Depot where she led large teams and highly dynamic operations. Her background also includes time in the healthcare industry, supporting EMR systems across hospitals and medical offices, as well as a five-year chapter in banking, working closely with credit card operations.

McCrohan has been interested in Hancock Lumber for some time. “Being a Best Place to Work in ME for 12 years means people genuinely love what they do and don’t want to leave,” she shared. As she learned more about Hancock’s values and Kevin Hancock’s shared leadership model, she recognized that her style of leadership closely matched that philosophy. “That is how I have led my whole career,” McCrohan explained. “When you give people a voice and they love what they do, you create a cohesive work environment that clicks. Team members feel it, customers see it, and that’s what makes them want to do business with Hancock Lumber.”

McCrohan stated, “I am so honored to have joined this team of amazing leaders who truly value their people,” she said. “This is a place where individuals are respected, heard, and seen for who they are. I am proud to say I am now part of a seventh-generation company that provides superior customer service and deeply values its employees.”

“Team Hancock is excited for her leadership in Damariscotta and looks forward to the impact she will have enhancing the lives of those who are connected to the company—from employees and customers to vendor partners and the broader community,” stated a Hancock company representative.

QXO Buys Kodiak Building Partners

QXO, headquartered in Greenwich, CT, announced that the company acquired Kodiak Building Partners for $2.25 billion. The acquisition makes good on QXO’s pledge that its acquisition of Beacon Roofing Supply last year was just the first step in a plan to grow rapidly in the building products space.

QXO, founded by billionaire entrepreneur Brad Jacobs, said the transaction is expected to be highly accretive to 2026 earnings and will expand QXO’s current addressable market to more than $200 billion.

Kodiak Building Partners is a familiar name throughout the forest products industry. The Englewood, CO, based company was named the 2023 ProDealer of the Year. And its portfolio includes strong local and regional brands including Shepley Wood Products, Simonson Lumber and Zarsky Lumber, to name a few. Those brand names are not expected to change—at least not in the near term, according to a spokesman, as QXO is still working through the QXO rebranding of Beacon.

Kodiak generated approximately $2.4 billion of revenues in 2025 as a U.S. distributor of lumber, trusses, windows and doors, construction supplies, waterproofing, roofing and complementary exterior products, as well as value-added assembly, fabrication and installation services. The business is a market leader in most of its geographies, with concentrations in the Sun Belt and Mountain states. About 40 percent of Kodiak’s 2025 revenues were generated in Florida and Texas, where building market growth has consistently outpaced national market growth over the last decade.

The integration of Kodiak’s structural and exterior construction product offerings with QXO’s existing range will better position QXO to grow both market share and wallet share with large homebuilders, the company says. This aligns with QXO’s strategy to become a preferred supplier serving the full project lifecycle of large, multisite developments and master-planned communities.

R.P. Lumber Makes Another Acquisition

R.P. Lumber Co., Inc., based in Edwardsville, IL, is a family-owned, building materials retailer and home center, that recently announced the acquisition of Bender Lumber, a respected and long-standing name in Indiana’s building supply industry.

Bender Lumber has served generations of builders, remodelers and homeowners across Southern Indiana. With eight locations in Bedford, Bloomington, Columbus, Linton, Madison, Martinsville, Paoli and Washington, Bender Lumber has built its reputation on quality products, knowledgeable service and a deep commitment to its communities.

The acquisition of Bender Lumber follows R.P. Lumber’s October 2025 acquisition of the two-location Dye Lumber operation in Indiana, now bringing the company’s footprint in the Hoosier State to 10 locations.

With over 100 employees, Bender Lumber has maintained a strong focus on serving professional builders and remodelers, while also supporting a growing base of DIY customers. Each Bender location is a full-service lumberyard offering building materials, hardware and contractor support.

The companies are working closely to ensure a seamless transition. Existing employees will remain in place, according to the announcement. The companies already share many of the same vendors and technology, and R.P. Lumber will invest in additional technology, equipment and inventory to enhance the customer experience.

The acquisition also reflects R.P. Lumber’s broader commitment to growth and regional investment. With 99 retail locations across Illinois, Missouri, Wyoming, South Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Indiana, R.P. Lumber continues to expand its footprint while staying true to its small-town roots.
