The fall meeting of the New England Lumbermen’s Association (NELA) was recently held at the Colwen Conference Center in Portsmouth, NH, where 93 members attended the all day affair.
The day began with coffee and registration, which allowed attendees to network and renew old business and personal relationships. Two retirees who were past NELA Presidents also attended, Dave Williams of Champlain Hardwoods and Paul Zylinski of Rex Lumber Co., both expressed their fondness for the association and industry and vowed to keep attending the meetings in the future.
Lunch was quickly followed by the popular “Business Discussion” among the members with Vice President John St. Jean of Hull Forest Products moderating the lively topics covered.
After the discussion, the group enjoyed a festive “Happy Hour” at Foster’s Clambakes located in York Harbor, ME. Ninety members enjoyed an authentic down east clambake that included clam chowder, steamed clams and lobster.
NELA is a 130-year-old organization that caters to forest products companies that have interest in a healthy and thriving forest economy.
