LSLA Returns To Wisconsin For Annual Winter Gathering
Hotel Northland in Green Bay, WI, was the recent site of the Lake States Lumber Association (LSLA) annual winter meeting.
For two full days, LSLA members and guests met for a full lineup of educational speakers as well as ample networking opportunities, including a golf game for those who chose to play.

LSLA Exceptional Reception
The first evening kicked off with a welcome reception, followed the next morning by a welcome address by Larry Krueger, of Krueger Lumber Co. Michael Snow, executive director of the American Hardwood Export Council, followed that with a presentation focused on the current U.S. hardwood export market.
The remainder of the morning’s speakers touched on the Australian market’s opportunities for Wisconsin hardwoods, phytosanitary updates and a panel of educators discussed the industry in general.
The Hardwood Federation’s executive director, Dana Lee Cole, brought attendees up to date on current legislative discussions. She was joined by Scott Everett, LSLA’s Michigan Legislative Consultant and Amy Boyer, LSLA’s Wisconsin Legislative Consultant.

After a lunch break and election of directors, LSLA attendees heard from Jim Maltese, of Stella-Jones, and Ian Faight, of the Hardwood Manufacturers Association, regarding current activity by the Real American Hardwood Coalition.
Hardwood Market Report’s David Caldwell and Scott Lyon, of the Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources, also gave presentations.
