Ron Jones Hardwood Sales Inc. Welcomes Isaac Jones

Ron Jones Hardwood Sales Inc., located in Union City, PA, recently welcomed Isaac Jones to their team. Jones will be involved in sales, purchasing and network administration.
Ron Jones Hardwood specializes in the manufacturing and sales of premium Northern Appalachian Hardwood lumber. They offer thicknesses ranging from 3/4 through 8/4 and species include Cherry, Red Oak, Hard and Soft Maple, Poplar, Hickory, Ash and Yellow Birch, in rough or surfaced.
Jones started working for the company during high school, where he would work on the lumber yard at the company’s Franklin, PA, location during the summer, he did this throughout college. During this time, he gained experience operating the stacker, laying stickers and tallying lumber with the Vision Tally System.
Before joining the Ron Jones Hardwood team fulltime, Jones worked in the logistics industry where he worked for Logistics Plus, handling contracts for companies such as Google and Wabtec.
“I am excited to join the industry as a third-generation lumberman. This opportunity allows me to continue my family’s legacy while embarking on my own journey. Although I have much to learn, I am eager to absorb knowledge from experienced colleagues and contribute to the industry’s growth. I look forward to embracing the challenges ahead!” said Jones.
Jones graduated from Union City High School in 2018 and earned a degree in Project and Supply Chain Management from The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, in 2021. During his time in college, he was a sprinter for the track and field team at Penn State Behrend, Erie, PA.
In his free time, he enjoys reading, listening to music, hiking and enjoying the company of his dog and two cats.

Gutchess Lumber, Educating the Next Generation On Hardwood Heroes
Gutchess Lumber Co. Inc. recently released a new children’s book, The Hardwood Heroes, aiming to pass that knowledge on to the next generation.
The book is written for elementary aged children and introduces readers to four unique tree characters looking to leave a positive impact on the world. The book helps showcase how forests are carbon heroes, silently fighting climate change. It also teaches young readers about how trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it in their wood, a process known as carbon sequestration.
“Hardwood has a story and it deserves to be told. We’re excited to educate a new generation of consumers with The Hardwood Heroes,” said Brian Conklin, vice president of Gutchess Lumber. “It’s important that people of all ages have a better understanding of the hardwood manufacturing industry, and this book is a great first step in making educated consumers for the future.”

Southern Cypress Manufacturers Association Elects 2025 Officers
Members of the Southern Cypress Manufacturers Association, located in Pittsburgh, PA, elected officers for 2025 at the association’s recent annual meeting in Memphis, TN.

Truss Beasley, Beasley Forest Products (BFP), Hazlehurst, GA, was elected SCMA president. He joined BFP in 2014 and is currently serving as vice president of business development for the Beasley Group sawmills and flooring plants. Beasley earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s in business administration from Georgia Southern University.

Mike Shook, Norcross Supply Company (NSC), Peachtree Corners, GA, was elected vice president. Shook joined NSC in 1991 and currently serves as president and chairman of the board. Shook earned a bachelor’s degree in building construction from the University of Florida in 1989.
The Southern Cypress Manufacturers Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of cypress building products to trade professionals and consumers.

HMA Elects Officers, Board for 2025


The Board of Directors of the Hardwood Manufacturers Association (HMA), located in Pittsburgh, PA, elected Matthew Netterville, Fred Netterville Lumber Company, Woodville, MS, as president of the HMA at their National Conference in Charleston, SC.
Other HMA officers for 2025 are Vice President Brian Schilling, Pike Lumber Company, Akron, IN and Executive Vice President Ian Faight, Hardwood Manufacturers Association, Warrendale, PA.


HMA Board of Directors also elected members to the Executive Committee. In addition to the officers, they are: Truss Beasley, Thompson Hardwoods, Hazlehurst, GA; Tripp Josey, Josey Lumber Company, Inc., Scotland Neck, NC; Kirby Kendrick, Kendrick Forest Products, Edgewood, IA; and Jeff Lisk, Wagner Millwork, Owego, NY. Tommy Petzoldt, East Perry Lumber Company, Frohna, MO, will serve on the executive committee as the immediate past president.
