John Jeffrey Taylor
John Jeffrey Taylor of Memphis, TN, was born on September 20, 1955, he passed away at the age of 69 after a long illness on October 20, 2024. Jeff was born in Bruce, MS, to Ralph and Faye Taylor. After graduating from Whitehaven High School in 1973, he continued his education at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) where he studied business and finance (he also had a really good time).
After Jeff graduated from Ole Miss, he followed in his father’s footsteps, working side-by-side with his brother and father at Ralph Taylor Lumber Company. Jeff grew up with a love for hunting that he inherited from his father. He spent much of his time traveling with family and dear friends to enjoy the great outdoors on many adventures. Jeff also enjoyed going to the horse races in Hot Springs, AR, at the Oak Lawn Track.
Jeff was an active member of the Lumbermen’s Club of Memphis and the National Hardwood Lumber Association.
Jeff is now at peace joining his parents, James Ralph Taylor and Ila Faye Taylor; Kristi Marie Taylor (daughter); James Phillip Taylor (brother); and James Adam Taylor (nephew). He is survived by his son, John Zachary Taylor (Katie) of Memphis; a sister, Donna Taylor Weeks (Eric) of Oxford, MS; nephew, John Jackson Taylor (Missy) of Little Rock, AR; niece, Susan Lenore Steffens of Cornelius, SC; and niece, Taylor Addice Steffens of Oxford, MS.
Jeff also leaves behind a huge hole in the hearts of his cherished friends Frank Phillips and his wife, Elane, with a lifetime of memories (which cannot all be shared).
The family cannot thank Candice Lucas enough for her devoted health care and unconditional love to Jeff. The family would also like to thank Dr. Frank McGrew for his personal and professional care. Visitation and service was held in the Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, TN.
