Devereaux Sawmill Inc: Offering A Variety Of Hardwood Species And Unique Services
Josh Goodman is a sales manager in the eastern U.S. for Devereaux Sawmill Inc. in Pewamo, MI.
Devereaux Sawmill produces 17 million board feet of kiln-dried hardwood lumber annually in 4/4 through 12/4 thicknesses. Species include Cherry, Hickory, Hard and Soft Maple, Red and White Oak, and Walnut. Surfaced hit and miss is available. Rift and quartered, thermal modification, ripped to width, SLR1E, finish planing and live edge Walnut Boules are among its unique services.
Devereaux Sawmill is a member of National Hardwood Lumber Association, Michigan Association of Timbermen, Lake States Lumber Association, Great Lakes Kiln Drying Association and Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen’s Association.
Goodman started his forest products career in 2013 at Devereaux Sawmill, where he worked as a lumber stacker, packager, sawyer and grader before assuming his current position in 2020.
After graduating from high school in Portland, MI, Goodman received a B.A. degree in Recreation Services and Facilities Management from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI, and his MA in Administration, also from CMU. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, backpacking, golfing and spending time with his wife, Julia and their dog, Boomerang.

Mathieu Lapierre: King City Forwarding’s Business Development Representative
Mathieu Lapierre is a business development representative at King City Forwarding, a North American based freight forwarder specializing in global logistics solutions. Since joining the company in 2025, Lapierre has worked to strengthen relationships with customers and international partners, with a particular focus on the forest products industry.
“King City Forwarding has built a strong presence in the North American lumber and wood products sector, providing reliable transportation solutions for hardwood and softwood lumber, logs, veneers and related commodities,” noted Lapierre.
Lapierre works closely with sawmills, manufacturers, exporters, and overseas agents to coordinate efficient supply chain solutions for customers across international markets.
“Over the past year, I’ve learned that success in the lumber industry comes down to reliability, communication and understanding our customers’ business,” said Lapierre. “Whether it’s moving hardwood lumber to Asia, softwood products to the Middle East, or coordinating multimodal shipments across North America, our goal is to provide practical logistics solutions that keep our customers’ supply chains moving.”
In his role, Lapierre manages relationships with importers, exporters and freight partners, supporting ocean freight, air freight, domestic trucking and rail transportation. He works to develop customized shipping strategies that help customers navigate changing market conditions, evolving trade regulations and the unique transportation requirements of the forest products industry.

Adentra Imports: Processing Millions Of Board Feet Of Exotic Lumber Annually
As the Outside Sales Executive for Leland, NC-based, Adentra Imports Stephen Markum is a member of the company’s imported lumber division. Their services cover all the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Between 6 million and 8 million board feet is handled by Adentra Imports annually. Surfacing and ripping are available upon request. Species handled include Sapele and Utile (4/4 through 16/4); Natural Forest Spanish Cedar and African and Genuine SA Mahogany, African Mahogany (4/4 through 12/4); Afrormosia, Anigre, European White Oak, African Spanish Cedar and Dark Red Meranti (4/4 through 8/4); Limba, Padauk, Wenge and Purple Heart (4/4 and 8/4); Jatoba (4/4, 5/4 and 8/4), Iroko (4/4, 6/4 and 8/4), Lacewood (4/4) and Okoume (8/4).
Markum started at Adentra on May 6th, 2024, and has been in his sales position since then. He has been in the forest products industry for 34 years and his first job was logging in 1992. Other positions held by Markum include lumber inspector at Tanner Lumber Company LLC in Elkins, WV (1997 -1999), Vice President of Blue Ridge Lumber Company LLC. in Goshen, VA (1999 – 2021), and Richwood, WV-based, Cherry River Lumber Company plant manager.
Markum graduated from Greater Johnstown Career & Technology Center in Johnstown, PA, joining the U.S. Army right out of high school, and later attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, for Biblical Studies. He also attended the lumber grading school from the National Hardwood Lumber Inspection School in the summer of 1997.
He has one daughter, one son and two granddaughters. He has been married to Marty Markum for 31 years.
Markum enjoys spending time with his family, camping, fishing, hunting, hiking and kayaking.
