WWPA Welcomes Industry Leaders To Washington
The Western Wood Products Association (WWPA) concluded its 2026 Annual Meeting recently in the Edgewater Ballroom at the Hotel Indigo in Vancouver, WA. The organization noted that the three-day event, attended by more than 100, brought together industry leaders and members for a series of informative sessions, networking opportunities and committee meetings.
An evening Welcome Reception & Exchange Show kicked off the event, followed the next day with an industry buffet breakfast at which Paul Jannke, of Forest Economic Advisors, gave a presentation. A WWPA committee meeting followed that.
During lunch, the Master Lumberman Awards highlighted this annual meeting. The award recognizes outstanding lumber grading and quality control professionals in the Western lumber industry. According to WWPA, it is a prestigious honor with only a select few achieving Master Lumberman status each year.
That was followed by the speaker session, which included: Lech Muszynski of Oregon State University College of Forestry; Alberto Torbio del Pilar of Butcher Joseph & Co., who spoke on succession planning; and Charlotte Ward Brodey, director of value realization at Guidewheel, who spoke on innovation.
An industry dinner and a board of directors meeting closed the annual event.
Western Wood Products Association, headquartered in Lake Oswego, OR, represents lumber manufacturers in the 12 Western states and Alaska. The largest lumber association in the region, WWPA provides service covering over 8 billion board feet of annual Western lumber production.
WWPA provides services to Western mills in three areas: quality assurance, technical services and market services. Member mills have access and can guide Association activities in all three service areas. WWPA also provides nonmember quality assurance services, including grade inspection, heat-treating, remanufactured wood and glued products.
