Luke Chaddock: Salesman At Prime Lumber Company

Luke Chaddock

Luke Chaddock is involved in sales, quality control and operating the dry kilns at Thomasville, NC-based, Prime Lumber Company.

Born and raised in Minerva, OH, Chaddock holds a Bachelor of Science in Wood Science and Technology from West Virginia University (WVU). During his time at WVU, he served as president of the Forest Products Research Society and competed on the WVU Bass Fishing Team. 

Chaddock is a published researcher in the field of hardwood modification processes, focusing on improving the performance and sustainability of Yellow Poplar lumber. Outside of his professional pursuits he enjoys bowhunting, fishing and woodworking.

Over 10 Million Board Feet Handled By Exotic Lumber Importer, Landmark Lumber Group

Pam Baldwin is the director of ThermalPro Wood sales and marketing at Landmark Lumber Group.

The Mid-Atlantic lumber distribution company is based in New Freedom, PA, and purchases over 10 million board feet of lumber annually.

Species imported by Landmark include Cedar, Mahogany, Teak and Ipe. They also carry domestic hard and softwood in all grades and sizes, pressure-treated lumber, paneling, cladding, and stair parts.

Their ThermalPro Wood line features thermally modified lumber, cladding, rainscreen, and decking, available in both softwood and hardwood species. Products can be supplied unfinished or prefinished.

Baldwin said the company’s goal is to be a “true one-stop shop for all wood-based product needs—delivering efficiency in both ordering and delivery.” She noted that the company expanded into finished products two years ago, enabling customers to broaden their offerings, better compete with big box retailers, and enhance overall customer satisfaction.

Baldwin has been with Landmark Lumber Group for three years and has spent all of them in her current position. While this is her first job in the forest products industry, she has over 20 years of experience in wholesale products distribution.

She attended Central High School in York, PA, followed by Penn State and Lock Haven Universities, from which she received a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and an Associate’s degree in Merchandising and Design.

She is an avid home-chef, lover of books and wine. She enjoys the outdoors – specifically the beach and mountains.  She is married with three sons.

Bruce Horner: 19 Years With Abenaki Timber

Bruce Horner

Bruce Horner is in sales and purchasing with Abenaki Timber Corporation of Kingston, NH. The company operates a concentration yard and dry kilns, handling 15 million board feet of lumber per year. Species they offer include Poplar, Cherry, Red and White Oak, Ash, Hard and Soft Maple, European Beech, Beech, Birch, Basswood and Hickory.

Abenaki is a member of the National Hardwood Lumber Association, Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen’s Association, Hardwood Manufacturers Association, Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers Inc., American Hardwood Export Council, Penn-York Lumbermen’s Club, New England Lumbermen’s Association and the Appalachian Lumbermen’s Club.

Horner sells to domestic U.S. markets and also purchases European Beech and other species from Europe. He has worked in his current job for 19 years. His career in the forest products industry goes back over 40 years, beginning as a custom cabinet and door manufacturer. Between then and now, he has worked a wide variety of jobs in sawmills from stacking lumber to head sawyer to grader.

Horner graduated from the Greater Johnstown Area Vocational Technical School in cabinet making and from the NHLA Inspector Training School.

In his free time, he enjoys hunting, farming and golfing. He and his wife, Wilma, have been married for 40 years. They have two daughters, a grandson and a granddaughter.
