Northeast Flocks To 131st LBM Expo
The Northeastern Retail Lumber Association (NRLA) held its 131st LBM Expo at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT, bringing together key decision-makers from across the Northeastern lumber and building materials industry. The two-day event featured 140 contracted exhibitors and attracted retail lumber dealers and contractors from all 10 states and the District of Columbia within NRLA’s territory.
Education remained a key focus, with a full lineup of sessions offered both days of the show. Attendees learned how lumber dealers are using artificial intelligence to stay ahead of competitors and build long-term market strength. Other sessions covered practical showroom improvement ideas—from full remodels to simple updates—to encourage upselling, strengthen customer loyalty, and support steady growth. The program also featured a 2026 market outlook, succession planning for long-term success, guidance on understanding and specifying SCL and I-joists, and an introduction to a new NRLA construction lending member program.
During NRLA’s Annual Business Meeting, Genn Howley of GNH Lumber was elected chair of the association. Howley succeeds Doug Ford of Curtis Lumber Company Inc., who completed a commendable two-year tenure in the role.
Networking opportunities were woven throughout the Expo, including complimentary lunch on the show floor, the Installation Celebration honoring Howley, and the North American Young Lumber Employees (NYLE) After Dark event. Best Booth Awards were presented, recognizing exhibitors for outstanding booth design and interactivity in three categories: island, multiple, and single booth sizes.
NRLA announced that the LBM Expo will return to Mohegan Sun on December 9–10, 2026.
