Gorman produces between 145 to 160 million board feet a year in Engelmann Spruce and Lodgepole Pine under the BC, Counsel of Forest Industries Grade standards. As a 1-inch board mill, their primary function, as noted by Cherney, “Is anything from a 1 x 2 to a 1 x 12. We make Clear and Proprietary grades that are graded above the industry standard. We have a Clear Select, Elite, Craftsman and No. 4 Common grade (a 3/4-inch board dried to 12.5 percent moisture content).”
They produce approximately 30 million board feet of T&G profile lumber as well as 1 x 2 to 1 x 6 finger jointed product annually. Cherney explained what sets Gorman Bros. apart when compared to other lumber companies. He noted:

He explained how he got his start at Gorman, which “purchased green, rough lumber one summer and we dry piled that lumber by hand. In the winter, they moved us to the mill, ran the lumber through the planer and then we piled it all.”
Involvement in the forest products industry is part of his family history, as his father was a faller in Princeton in the late ‘50s and his uncles and cousins also worked in the industry. During his childhood, he helped his cousins pile on the green chain.
