Daryl Yoder is part-owner of Cornerstone Moulding of Bremen, IN. In addition, Yoder is lumber buyer, vice president and in charge of accounting. The company is an end use manufacturer and wholesaler. Cornerstone purchases about 1.3 million board feet of lumber per year.
Cornerstone manufactures wood moulding, also staining, finishing or painting it. Cornerstone also carries kiln-dried Hard and Soft Maple, FAS, Select and Better, No. 1 Common; Oak, FAS, Select and Better; Cherry and Poplar, FAS, Select and Better. All species are offered in 4/4 and 5/4 thicknesses.
Yoder began working for Cornerstone in 2004. He has worked in his present position since 2011. He began working in the forest products industry in 1992, operating a panel saw. He also has worked in RV manufacturing.
In his free time, Yoder enjoys tinkering with antique tractors and hunting. Yoder and his wife of 32 years, Vonda Yoder, have four sons and two daughters.

Ganahl Lumber Co. Purchases Oak, Poplar, Maple

Deonn DeFord is the finished wood products manager, including purchasing all hardwood lumber, for
Ganahl Lumber Co., headquartered in Anaheim, CA.
Ganahl Lumber was founded in 1884 and is a distributor of domestic and imported hardwood and softwood lumber, panels and millwork. The company’s annual purchasing volume totals over 300 million board feet and includes the following hardwood species: Red and White Oak, Poplar, Hard White Maple, Birch, Cherry, Walnut, Ash, Alder and Cypress. Upper grades are primarily purchased as well as some No. 1 Common in Maple, and Red and White Oak. Most species are 4/4, 5/4, 6/4 and 8/4 thickness. Poplar as well as Red and White Oak is purchased in 10/4, 12/4 and 16/4 thickness.
Among Ganahl’s primary customer base are members of the custom home building and industrial markets.
DeFord has worked at Ganahl Lumber for 35 years. His current responsibilities as product manager include purchasing all hardwood lumber, hardwood panels, exterior hardwood decking, hardwood, softwood and MDF moulding and millwork, fencing, redwood, cedar, clear Douglas fir, all pine and spruce-pine-fir, concrete forming panels, siding and trim.
DeFord is a graduate of Highland High School, located in Anderson, IN, and he studied engineering and business at California State University-Fullerton, located in Fullerton, CA. His first position in the forest products industry was working at The Hardwood Center, located in Santa Ana, CA, where he worked as a “jack of all trades”: driving trucks, stocking mouldings, and assisting in mill shop activities. After a short stint at The Hardwood Center, he moved on to spend a year and a half at Specialty Stairs, a distributor of L.J. Smith Stair Parts. From there, he landed his first job at Ganahl Lumber in October of 1989.
In his spare time, DeFord enjoys golfing, hiking, mountain biking, skiing and working out. He has a 25-year-old daughter, Drea DeFord, and 17-year-old daughter, Ivy DeFord. He also likes to give back to the industry. He was part of the North American Forest Foundation for eight years as the secretary, vice president and president. He has been a part of the Los Angeles Hardwood Lumberman’s Club for over 20 years, serving as its treasurer, vice president and president (two terms).

Mike Hall is lumber purchasing agent for Woodland Supply & Manufacturing Ltd., located in Winnipeg, MB.
Woodland Supply & Manufacturing purchases approximately 2.5 million board feet annually of Northern Red Oak, Eastern Hard and Soft White Maple, Walnut, Birch, Aspen, and Poplar (Select and Better, No. 1 and No. 2 Common, Rough, kiln-dried, 4/4 through 8/4).
Woodland Supply manufactures solid wood baseboards, casings, crown mouldings, doorjambs, balusters, newel posts, solid doors, handrail and rail components, hot and cold air registers as well as S4S lumber.
Value-added services offered by the company include custom profiled mouldings, rail and style doors, dining tables and designed wood products. The company also has a retail store on-site that supplies the required hardware for the products they manufacture.
Hall has been with the company since 2003 and in his current position since 2007. He began his career in the forest products industry as a custom door manufacturer. Later he became a journeyman cabinetmaker and owned and operated his own custom cabinet and woodworking shop.
A graduate of British Columbia Institute of Technology, Burnaby, BC, he served in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves and was a volunteer firefighter for three years. Hall is a certified P.A.D.I. rescue diver and a Harley-
Davidson enthusiast.
He has been married to his best friend Brenda for 39 years and the couple has one daughter and two granddaughters.
