Florida-Based Company With Multifaceted Manufacturing Director And Lumber Buyer Purchases Millions Of Board Feet

Ben Williams is the director of manufacturing and a lumber purchaser for the sawmill and manufacturing company Millwork 360 in Tampa, FL.

The company purchases 2.75 million board feet annually in Poplar, Red and White Oak, Select Cypress, Cherry, Hard and Soft Maple and Sipo, also known as “Utile.” Grades and thicknesses these species are handled in include Select & Better, FAS, FAS1F and 4/4 through 10/4.

Custom interior doors, custom exterior impact rated doors and primed moulding are all offered by the company.

Williams has been in the forest products industry for 22 years and his first position was in purchasing and production scheduling. While he has been with Millwork 360 for 15 years and in his current position for one year, he also has experience in mechanics, electrical repair, maintenance and operating a moulder.

Williams enjoys grilling, fishing and working outdoors.

His wife of 14 years is Taryn Williams, and they have three daughters.

Gat Creek Purchases Maple, Oak, Poplar

Gat Caperton is the CEO of Gat Creek, located in Berkeley Springs, WV. He oversees all aspects of the business, such as lumber purchasing. The company is an end-use manufacturer that creates solid wood furniture for many different environments in the U.S., including home and office.

Gat Creek purchases roughly 1.36 million board feet of domestic hardwood annually. The company purchases No. 1 Common Maple, FAS Walnut, No. 1/ No. 2 Common Ash, No. 1 Common Cherry and No. 1 Common White Oak in 4/4, 5/4, 6/4 and 8/4 thicknesses, as well as No. 2 Common Poplar in 4/4 thickness.

Gat Creek is a member of the Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers Inc., American Home Furnishings Alliance and West Virginia Manufacturers Association.

Caperton has been with the company and the industry for 29 years, starting as CEO of Tom Seely Furniture before it became Gat Creek. He obtained his undergraduate degree at Davidson College in North Carolina and his MBA at the University of Chicago. He has been married to Susan for 29 years, and the couple has three daughters.
