Vancouver And NAWLA Team Up

Members and guests of the North American Wholesale Lumber Association (NAWLA) met in Vancouver, BC recently at The Vancouver Club to enjoy a regional meeting.

The gathering afforded attendees great opportunities to network and learn new information that is pertinent to the forest products industry.

Steven Hofer, of Western Forest Products, was one of the guest speakers. Hofer joined Western Forest Products in September 2022 as the President and Chief Executive Officer. In this overall leadership role, he is accountable for the Company’s strategy and performance. Hofer has over 30 years’ experience in the forest products industry, including executive sales and marketing and operations roles with Interfor, and prior to joining Western, was the Executive Vice President, Strategy & Business Development for private equity owned BID Group. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Asian Studies from the University of Victoria and the Advanced Management Program from the University of Chicago.

Also speaking at the NAWLA Vancouver regional meeting was Joe Barnes, the executive vice president of sourcing and supply chain at Builders FirstSource.

Barnes has a diverse leadership background including over 18 years of industry experience, eventually becoming the company’s senior vice president, operations, and supply chain.

Barnes earned his bachelor’s in accounting from California State University, Chico, and holds a master’s in business administration degree from Western Washington University.

The next NAWLA regional meeting will be held Aug. 17 in Minneapolis.
