Southern Cypress Promotion Updates
Last month, members of the Southern Cypress Manufacturers Association (SCMA), along with promotion sponsors, gathered for the association’s 2026 Annual Meeting at Hyatt Regency Riverfront in Jacksonville, Florida. The event was held in conjunction with the Hardwood Manufacturers Association’s 2026 National Conference and Expo.

Attendees heard updates on Cypress promotion projects, discussed industry topics, and enjoyed a networking reception and dinner.
Following is brief recap.
Throughout 2025, the SCMA engaged in a comprehensive marketing campaign and published new editorial content, grew its social media platforms, and produced a do-it-yourself video.
The video, developed in partnership with Home Improvement and Repairs magazine, shows how to install a Cypress ceiling and trim in a bedroom. In addition to creating social media content, the project was featured in a print issue of the magazine.
In 2026, the SCMA plans to produce several new editorial features, showcasing Cypress in interior and exterior residential applications and highlighting the unique species’ natural qualities and advantages over alternative materials. The articles will be distributed to print and online news outlets across the country, reaching millions of potential readers.
The SCMA also is developing a new continuing education unit (CEU) for architects and interior designers. Once completed, the CEU will be a valuable educational tool for the design community and help position Cypress as a preferred building material over other wood species and wood-look products. The CEU will be available as an on-demand course and will be promoted in leading design publications.
Does your company manufacture, process, or distribute Cypress building products?
If so, consider joining the SCMA and become a leader in the promotion of this unique and versatile species.
