Promoting Southern Cypress

When it comes to promoting Cypress building products, the Southern Cypress Manufacturers Association (SCMA) leads the charge. From partnering with magazines on editorial and video projects to creating engaging social media and educational content, the SCMA maintains a diverse promotion campaign that benefits all Cypress producers and distributors. Following is a brief rundown of what’s in store for the rest of 2025.

The SCMA is currently collaborating with Home Improvement and Repairs magazines on two DIY tutorial features to promote the natural beauty, character, and durability of Cypress. The first project highlights the use of tongue-and-groove millwork to top off a stunning bedroom ceiling, along with crown, baseboard, chair rail, and window and door trim. The second project showcases how to create rustic, board-on-batten shutters to enhance a home’s curb appeal.

Both projects will be featured in upcoming issues of the print magazine, as well as on social media.

In addition, the SCMA also will produce several new editorial features highlighting interior and exterior Cypress applications. The articles will be distributed to news outlets across the country, as well as be featured on CypressInfo.org and on social media.

And to help educate architects and design professionals, the SCMA is developing a continuing education unit (CEU). Once completed, the resource will help inform the design community on the unique qualities of Cypress; how it can be utilized in a variety of applications; and why it’s a readily available and competitively priced alternative to other wood and wood-look products.

Is your company engaged in the manufacture, processing, or distribution of Cypress lumber or finished products?

Consider joining the SCMA and add your support to the promotion of these versatile, durable, and beautiful products.
