More Than 1,000 Travel To Indy To Celebrate IHLA 1

Approximately 1,200 attendees converged on the J.W. Marriott in Indianapolis, IN, recently for the annual convention and exposition hosted by the Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen’s Association (IHLA).

During the IHLA event, Michael Snow, executive director of the American Hardwood Export Council, provided a presentation entitled Untitled Territory: Hardwood Exports In A Chaotic World. This presentation examined the current state of hardwood exports as well as sought out rays of hope that lie over the horizon.

More Than 1,000 Travel To Indy To Celebrate IHLA 2

The IHLA Welcome Reception kicked off the event on the first night, followed by multiple speakers on day two. The Tree Farmer Breakfast was first on the agenda, followed by the opening session keynote speaker, Dr. Matthew Will.

Later, Dana Lee Cole, executive director of the Hardwood Federation, joined Pat Rita of Orion Advocates and Mike Dankler, chief of staff for Congressman Rudy Yakim, to discuss tariffs and participate in a trade panel discussion, moderated by IHLA’s Ray Moistner.

Exports and the Global Economy was the topic presented by Michael Snow, executive director of the American Hardwood Export Council.

The day wrapped up with a reception.

The following morning began with the IHLA Annual Meeting/Breakfast, followed in the afternoon by the Hardwood AutoGrading Panel Discussion, which included panelists Ryan Shear of A&E, Patrick Lepage of Comact and Bob Arnold of USNR.

The Fellowship of Christian Lumbermen also met in conjunction with the IHLA Convention.

IHLA, headquartered in Fishers, IN, is a non-profit trade organization comprised of sawmills, wholesale brokers, equipment vendors, secondary manufacturers, loggers, landowners and others who recognize the benefits of working together on issues and projects for the good of the hardwood industry. Today, IHLA has members in 27 states and three Canadian provinces.
