Louisville, KY– The Kentucky International Convention Center, located here, welcomed approximately 800 attendees recently to the North American Wholesale Lumber Association (NAWLA) Traders Market. It marked the first in-person Traders Market since 2019 and was well-attended, according to event organizers.
Since 1996, Traders Market has held a unique position among lumber and building material tradeshows as the only one focused almost exclusively on the lumber supply chain. The majority of exhibitors are manufacturers of lumber and lumber-related products.
According to NAWLA, no other lumber tradeshow provides this under one roof, which provides attendees the opportunity to sell a lumber product, find new suppliers or expand professional networks.
This year’s event did not disappoint. It provided eight hours of tradeshow floor time to buy, sell and network; more than three hours of dedicated networking time outside of tradeshow hours; a keynote presentation during the opening luncheon and educational seminars.
Keynote speaker Mark Scharenbroich’s career as a motivational speaker began with the Jostens award-winning film, “The Greatest Days of your Life…(so far),” which featured Scharenbroich speaking to high school students about engagement. It was viewed by millions of high school students worldwide in the 1980s.
Today, he is an award-winning keynote speaker, winner of an Emmy Award® as writer/producer for an ABC-TV special, and recipient of several international film awards.
The Sales Advantage guest speaker was Rob Jolles. A sought-after speaker and best-selling author, Jolles teaches, entertains, and inspires audiences worldwide. He draws on more than 30 years of experience to teach people how to change minds. His programs on influence and persuasion are in global demand, reaching organizations in North America, Europe, Africa, and the Far East. He is a published author of three bestselling books, and president of Jolles Associates Inc.
The Traders Market also included an education session (“Drivers in Demand”) moderated by Nick Fitzgerald, general manager for Snavely Forest Products.
Two days of the Traders Market offered “Learning Lounges” for attendees who wished to participate. Among them, sessions were led by Chelsea Brown and Natalie Heacock of Patrick Lumber Co., David Cox of Forest City Trading Group/Richmond International, Steve Rustjia of Weston Forest Products, and Bethany Doss of Capital Lumber Co. Also, Alden Robbins of Robbins Lumber Co. gave a presentation on creating a biomass plant.
