Jim Page had a larger than life personality, was a loving, caring benefactor, counselor and advisor to innumerable people, protector of the underdog, fascinating and endlessly entertaining life of the party, decorated Vietnam Navy Hospital Corpsman attached to the Marines, intelligent advisor, brilliant businessman, loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather.
He leaves behind his wife, Kathy; his daughter, Sunnie; granddaughter, Summer; his brother, Mike Page; sister, Liz Page; sister, Patty Daniel; and bountiful friends who he gave the priceless gift of his companionship. We lost him August 4, 2023, after a valiant fight with gastric bleed.
Jim was born to Wilmer and Catherine Page in Salem, OR. He graduated from Toledo Oregon High School and Portland State University. He served in the U.S. Navy 1964-68 and was deployed to Vietnam, where he served as a medivac hospital corpsman with the Marines. He was then assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea and returned to the gulf of Tonkin for a second tour.
While serving, he met the woman of his dreams, Kathy Petke. They married in 1967. They were joined by the light of their lives, their daughter, Sunnie. His circle of love multiplied when his daughter married Matt Majewski, and they welcomed his treasured granddaughter, Summer.
Jim began his career with Georgia Pacific, followed by other wholesale companies. In 1985 he realized his dream of building his own company, with the creation of “Lumber Country.” His entrepreneurial enthusiasm led him to establish many more companies including Seaward Yachts, Affiliated Resources, Page & Page Trucking and even a butcher shop and deli! After living in Lake Oswego and downtown Portland, he realized yet another dream – building a ranch in Aurora, OR. He supported countless local youth in Future Farmers of America and Royal Family Kids Camps. In retirement, Jim and wife Kathy relaxed on their beautiful ranch, took many wonderful vacations, traveled in their motorhome, wintered in Arizona and California and so much more. Words cannot describe how much our mighty warrior will be missed.
Jim’s celebration of life was held on August 17, 2023, at Community of Hope Lutheran Church in Wilsonville. In lieu of flowers, he would appreciate a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project.
