Ad Sachan: 14 Years with TREELINE Woodworks

Ad Sachan is general manager and head of design/operations for TREELINE Woodworks, located in Los Angeles, CA.

TREELINE Woodworks is a manufacturer of solid wood flooring, siding, custom millwork, in addition to metal/CNC/laser work. The company purchases 100,000 board feet per year of Walnut and rift/quartered White Oak (4/4, Character grade) and reclaimed Oak, Douglas fir and pine (various sizes from 1-by and 2-by to beams).

 Unique services offered by TREELINE include a custom fabrication division that can work alongside a client to make a whole host of furnishings, involving wood and metalwork, CNC and laser engraving or cutting.

Sachan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics. He has worked at TREELINE for over 14 years and it is his first position in the forest products industry. As general manager, Sachan handles daily operations, including lumber purchasing and assisting customers with product designs.

TREELINE Woodworks is a member of the National Wood Flooring Association, 1% For The Planet and The City of Los Angeles Green Business Program.

Jeffrey Cox is owner and president of Rowland Woodworking Inc., based in High Point, NC.

Rowland Woodworking manufactures architectural millwork, including mouldings, custom windows, doors and casework. The company purchases approximately 200,000 board feet annually of all domestic hardwoods (No. 2 Common & Better, 4/4 through 6/4, eight percent moisture content, rough). Value-added services include expediting jobs to meet short lead times; providing custom profiles up to 12”; all mouldings are available in specified lengths tailored to each project; pre-priming and custom finishes are also available.

Cox has been involved in the lumber industry most of his life. He began his career at Snow Lumber Company, High Point, NC. He owned Triad Drafting from 1986 to 2003, before buying and merging into Rowland Woodworking, which was formerly the millwork division of Snow Lumber Company, founded in 1880.

Cox attended Davidson Community College. He served as treasurer, president, vice-president and secretary of Architectural Woodwork Institute’s Carolina Chapter.

Cox and his wife of 37 years, Kristine (COO), are both 50 percent owners of the operation. Along with Jeff, Kristine served in leadership roles of the Architectural Woodwork Institute’s Carolina’s Chapter, is past President of AWI National (2017), and currently acts as the executive administrator for the chapter. An avid proponent of workforce development, she is the Committee Chair for AWI SkillsUSA and Technical Chair for SkillsUSA-NC.

 In his spare time, he enjoys travel, fishing and boating, football, NASCAR and outdoor gardening.

Perry Cox Founded Family Business Peach State Lumber Products 32 Years Ago

Perry Cox is the founder and owner of Peach State Lumber Products, a distributor in Kennesaw, GA.

Peach State purchases roughly 1.25 million board feet annually of domestic and imported hardwoods in 4/4 through 16/4 and rustic grades of White Oak, Walnut and many others.

Value-added processes include a Cameron gang rip saw system, live edge slabs, cabinet grade plywood, Hettich hardware, Lamello joiner system, hardwood glue, specialty oils for cutting boards and a Newman planer.

Sixty-two years ago, Cox started his career in the industry at Atlanta Hardwood Group. In 1994, he opened Peach State and has held his current position for all 32 years. Cox also has three years of experience in the Tennessee Division of Forestry.

After graduating from Haywood High School in Brownsville, TN, he became a certified lumber grader in 1966 upon completing the Memphis, TN-based, National Hardwood Lumber Association Inspector Training School.

Hobbies include yard work, woodworking, bird hunting and fishing.

Betsy, his wife of 46 years, passed in 2016 and helped Cox build and found the business. Their children, Dan Cox and Sally Scarbrough, in addition to two of five grandchildren, work with Cox at Peach State.

Peach State Lumber Products is a member of the National Hardwood Lumber Association and the Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers Inc.
