North Carolina-Based Riverside Millwork Using Domestics And Imports
Cynthia J. Hellems is vice president at Riverside Millwork Inc., located in Charlotte, NC.
Riverside Millwork is a manufacturer of custom millwork, including doors, and windows. Over 100,000 board feet of hardwood lumber is purchased by the company annually in domestic and some imported species, including Alder and Red Oak, as well as Sapele (FAS and Pattern grade, 4/4, 6/4, 8/4 and 10/4, kiln-dried, rough, S2S and S4S).
Hellems graduated from Nicholas County High School, located in Summersville, WV, in 1982. She has been with Riverside Millwork for 35 years, 10 of which have been spent in her present position with responsibilities including lumber purchasing.
Hellems has been married to Scott for 43 years and the couple has one daughter, Jessica. The family lives on a 25-acre farm, where they board 15 to 20 horses. Hellems and her 26-year-old daughter raise a special breed of Brahman cattle called Sardo Negro for showing prospects.

Terry Henry: Over 50 Years With D.H. Schmidt Co.
Terry Henry is the purchasing and logistics manager for D.H. Schmidt Co., located in St. Peters, MO.
D.H. Schmidt is a manufacturer of commercial cabinetry, countertops and fixtures, purchasing approximately 100,000 board feet annually of primarily Poplar, Oak, Birch and Maple (No. 1 and No. 2 Common, 13/16).
Added-value services offered by the company include laminating, CNC routing, post forming, edging and finishing.
Terry started with DHS at an early age and has surpassed 50 years with the company in tenure. As purchasing and logistics manager, he handles lumber buying duties, in addition to maintaining inventories of hardware and tooling for general shop activities and stock items.
D.H. Schmidt is a member of the Architectural Woodwork Institute.
In his spare time, Terry enjoys restoring cars and mowing grass with his zero turn.

McClure Tables: From A Retailer To Direct-To-Consumer Manufacturer
Todd McClure is owner and chief executive officer of McClure Tables Inc., located in Hudsonville, MI.
McClure Tables designs and builds handcrafted shuffleboard tables, butcher block furniture, kitchen islands, and solid edge-glued countertops. “Rooted in Michigan’s woodworking tradition, the company focuses on heirloom-quality construction using time-tested methods and premium hardwoods,” shared McClure.
The company purchases approximately 60,000 board feet of hardwood annually, including Hard Maple, Walnut, Cherry, Red and White Oak, and Hickory in FAS, No. 1 and No. 2 Common grades (5/4, 6/4 and 8/4), along with a limited volume of Mahogany and Teak. Each board is selected and milled with an emphasis on stability, grain character and long-term performance.
Founded in 1991 as a retail business, McClure Tables has evolved into a direct-to-consumer manufacturer, with every piece built to order by skilled bench carpenters and furniture craftsmen. “The company is known for its focus on authentic construction, solid hardwood playboards and a philosophy that prioritizes craftsmanship over mass production,” added McClure.
McClure graduated from Underwood High School in Underwood, IA, in 1976 and attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MI.
He has been married to his wife, Judy McClure, since 1986.
