Home Depot Adds 12 Stores In 2026

Located in Atlanta, GA, Home Depot, one of the world’s largest home improvement retailers is expanding its U.S. footprint with 12 new stores and more than 1.6 million square feet of retail space across eight states in 2026.

Texas is slated for the most opens this year (four), with Florida (two), Arizona, Arkansas, California, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Utah also on tap for new brick-and-mortar stores.

“While many retailers are closing brick-and-mortar locations, The Home Depot is expanding its physical presence to better serve the modern builder and the inspired homeowner. By moving inventory and expert support closer to some of the nation’s fastest growing regions, the company is shortening the distance between a project’s start and its completion,” stated a company representative.

The new stores will also cater to Pros, which continues to be a major focus for Home Depot. According to the company, the forthcoming locations will each include a dedicated Pro team and tools like AI-powered blueprint takeoff services and a Material List Builder to streamline ordering.

Canada Invests In Atlas Engineered Products

Atlas Engineered Products, a truss manufacturer based in Nanaimo, British Columbia, has secured a $4 million investment from the Canadian government to build a cutting-edge processing facility.

According to a government announcement, the move is designed to bolster Canada’s market for wood products—and to provide some spark for builders amid the ongoing softwood lumber dispute.

The press release highlighted the government’s broader “Buy Canadian” movement, stating, “Through projects like these, Canada is retooling its forest sector to go beyond traditional products into wood-based bioproducts, advanced biofuels and diversified pulp and paper products while also scaling up production of advanced building materials like mass timber. Through the Buy Canadian Policy, federal procurement is now prioritizing Canadian wood and engineered wood products. Through Build Canada Homes, Canadian lumber, mass timber and other advanced wood-based products are helping address Canadian housing needs while driving demand back into Canadian mills and manufacturing facilities.”

The funding (which came through Natural Resources Canada’s Investments in Forest Industry Transformation (IFIT) program) will enable Atlas Engineered Products to build a “cutting-edge wood manufacturing facility, powered by advanced robotics.” Those robotics, per the company, will “boost precision and efficiency and reduce waste while delivering strong, reliable wooden trusses made with care for the environment.”

The press release went on to state, “Canada’s forest sector is more than an industry. It is a lifeline for communities, a source of good jobs and a driver of sustainable prosperity. By defending forest sector workers today, partnering with industry to modernize the sector for tomorrow and opening new markets at home and around the world, the Government of Canada is ensuring that the forest sector remains a pillar of national strength for generations to come.”

QXO Finalizes Kodiak Building Partners

QXO Inc., headquartered in Greenwich, CT, has recently completed its acquisition of Kodiak Building Partners from Court Square Capital Partners for approximately $2.25 billion. The move, per QXO, expands its “addressable market to more than $200 billion.”

Brad Jacobs, chairman and chief executive officer of QXO, said, “By acquiring Kodiak, we’re providing our customers with a wider range of product offerings and value-added services. In addition, we expect the deal to be highly accretive to 2026 earnings and we remain on track to achieve our goal of $50 billion in annual revenue.”

The deal also provides a range of complementary benefits to QXO’s existing infrastructure. Cross-selling opportunities is a big one. “Owning Kodiak will expand the company’s sales opportunities to homebuilders and large general contractors, will improve demand visibility and will sharpen inventory planning,” said QXO Communications Chief, Joe Checkler.

Kodiak’s large lumberyard presence, in particular, opens up QXO’s entrance into the broader lumber market. Meanwhile, vendor overlap between the two giants adds more torque to its push into new projects. (Sixteen of Kodiak’s top 20 vendors are shared with QXO.)

Weekes and Snavely Forest Products Rebrand

Weekes Forest Products and Snavely Forest Products, based in St. Paul, MN, announced they are formally uniting under a single enterprise brand: WS Building Materials.

The company is a 100 percent employee-owned subsidiary of MacArthur Company. As part of the transition, the organization has rolled out a unified visual brand identity that will be reflected across facilities, communications and digital platforms.

The announcement follows several years of increased collaboration between the organizations, including systems alignment, shared strategic planning and cross-functional integration. The move responds directly to customer and supplier feedback requesting a more unified enterprise structure.

“This is an evolution, not a revolution,” said Scott Gardner, who previously held the title of VP at Weekes Forest Products and will now serve as president of WS Building Materials. “Our customers and supplier partners have asked us to operate as a single enterprise rather than regional distributors. WS Building Materials strengthens our ability to align strategy, execution, and investment across our footprint.”

RoMac Building Supply Relocates Lumber Hub

RoMac Building Supply has announced that it will be relocating operations from its Lady Lake, FL, location to its new Wildwood lumber facility.

RoMac says Lady Lake has played a vital role in the company’s history, but as the surrounding area has grown, the location has become less efficient for deliveries and customer access.

The new Wildwood facility is more strategically positioned closer to customers and offers improved access to I-75 and Florida Turnpike, allowing for faster deliveries and more efficient service. This location will serve as the primary hub for customers previously served by its Lady Lake branch.

As part of the transition, RoMac is also strengthening its leadership structure to support continued growth: Lewis Duke, will take on the role of General Manager of Leesburg and Wildwood Operations and Bart Lucas, will step into the role of Vice President of Sales, leading RoMac’s sales efforts across the organization.
