The Montréal Wood Convention (MWC) 2026, the premier event for the wood industry in Canada, successfully concluded at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montréal, welcoming a full house of 1,200 participants from across the globe.

Following four consecutive sold-out editions, this year’s Convention once again brought together the industry’s most important players for three days of business, insights, and high-level networking. With 112 exhibitors on site, organizers noted that the trade show highlighted the depth, diversity, and momentum of the wood industry, showcasing both established leaders and emerging players shaping its future.

A defining moment of this year’s program was the luncheon with Keynote Speaker, featuring renowned astronaut and former commander of the International Space Station, Chris Hadfield. His conference was met with overwhelming enthusiasm, earning praise from attendees across the board. His perspective on leadership, resilience, and navigating uncertainty resonated strongly, making his presence one of the most memorable highlights of the event.

Complementing the trade show, a series of targeted sessions and discussions brought industry voices together to address key challenges and opportunities, with a focus on market trends, evolving trade dynamics, and operational realities. These exchanges contributed to meaningful conversations and reinforced the Convention’s role as a catalyst for collaboration, noted event organizers.

Sven Gustavsson, Montréal Wood Convention Event Director, shared his perspective on this year’s edition:

“The strong turnout and engagement we saw throughout the event confirms how important it is for our industry to come together. The quality of discussions, the connections made, and the energy on site truly made this edition a success. We are especially proud of the response to Chris Hadfield’s conference, which left a lasting impression on participants.”

Christian Gilbert, Chairman of the organizing committee and Director of Sales at J.D. Irving, also emphasized the importance of the event:

“The Montréal Wood Convention continues to demonstrate the strength of our industry. The relationships built here and the collaboration we foster are essential to moving forward together in a constantly evolving market.”

The organizers extend their sincere thanks to all partners, participants, and exhibitors whose commitment and involvement made the Montréal Wood Convention 2026 a resounding success.

Rooted in the Canadian Lumbermen’s Association Convention first held in 1908, the Montréal Wood Convention was relaunched in 2013 through the collaboration of four Eastern Canadian associations: the Maritime Lumber Bureau (MLB), the Ontario Forest Industry Association (OFIA), the Québec Forest Industry Council (QFIC), and the Québec Wood Export Bureau (QWEB).
