Fellowship Of Christian Lumbermen Host TPUSA Speaker

The Fellowship of Christian Lumbermen (FCL) recently met in conjunction with the Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen’s Association Convention in Indianapolis, IN. They learned that Christian students are having an impact on college and high school campuses around the country.

More than 70 FCL attendees heard a report from Rachel Cooper, president of the Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter of Indiana University’s Indianapolis campus. She is a senior majoring in interpretive speech application and is a native of Indiana.

The chapter has approximately 50 members and talks with students on campus about conservative politics and their faith.

TPUSA was founded by Charlie Kirk for the purpose of free markets and limited government. He was assassinated in late 2025.

Cooper said members “table” with students which means sitting down to have conversations about national and world events and God. She said often times students are hostile when they first sit down and are calmed by positive engagement.

The chapter has been criticized by others on campus who call them intolerant and damage their signs and materials. She said they persevere and realize the opportunity that the college gives them to speak freely to others.

Cooper said the Indianapolis chapter and hundreds of others around the country have grown considerably since Kirk’s death. There is also a large effort to establish chapters in high schools.

Cooper said the group’s mission is to “identify, educate, train, and organize students to promote the principles of fiscal responsibility, free markets, and limited government.” She said the effort has built one of the most organized, active and powerful conservative grassroots activist networks on high school and college campuses across the country.

There are more than 3,500 chapters in the United States.
