The Pre-Expo Symposium runs from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and features three rotating small-group sessions designed for interactive discussion and personalized learning:
• Data Collection: Building Defensible Inspection Reports, led by Jon Namba, covering best practices for evidence gathering, interviews, testing and documentation
• Report Writing: Understanding Audience and Purpose, presented by Cathy Duncan of EZ Report Writing, focusing on clarity, structure and reducing liability by separating fact from opinion
• Legal Considerations: Ethics and Litigation Readiness, with Barbara Dunn and Billy Simmons, examining expert witness roles, Inspector Code of Conduct standards, real case studies and credibility protection
This full-day experience includes lunch and awards six CCU credits.
Also on Tuesday, the NWFA Certified Sales Advisor Session runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and covers wood species attributes, selling real wood versus alternatives, reducing claims and callbacks, matching products to customer lifestyles, installation and finish considerations, and building long-term client relationships. Participants may sit for a certification exam at the conclusion of the session and earn eight CCU credits.
Business owners may also attend the Success & Succession session from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., led by Doug Howard of GrowthTeam Strategies. This session explores transition planning essentials, including company valuation drivers, common barriers, personal readiness and practical steps for implementation.
Main Event Learning Sessions – April 22–23
On Wednesday and Thursday, the main Expo education sessions are included with standard registration. Facilitated by industry professionals, these sessions cover technical skills, marketing, sales and trends to help businesses adapt and compete. Attendees may participate in up to four sessions, earning one CCU credit each.
Networking That Sparks Connections
Networking is woven throughout the Expo experience, beginning with the Ignite Your Passion Opening Session on Tuesday, April 21, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. This high-energy kickoff includes an industry update from the NWFA and awards presentations, highlighted by the announcement of the prestigious NWFA Wood Floor of the Year awards. These honors recognize innovative craftsmanship and standout installations, inspiring attendees with real-world examples of excellence.
The evening continues with the Spark Reception from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., offering a celebratory start to relationship-building.
Wednesday, April 22, features the Mastermind Morning for Women in the Floorcovering Industry (WIFI) from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., a breakfast-inclusive session fostering meaningful dialogue. Later, the It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere Happy Hour runs from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by the Distributor & Manufacturer Reception from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The day concludes with the 9th annual Emerging Leaders Reception from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., honoring rising talent within the industry.
The Expo wraps up on Thursday, April 23, with the Grand Finale Celebration from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Extending the Experience: ERF Golf Tournament
The 2nd Annual NWFA Education & Research Foundation Golf Tournament takes place Friday, April 24, at Disney’s Palm Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. with breakfast and a Bloody Mary bar, followed by warm-up time on the driving range. The shotgun start begins at 9:00 a.m., with lunch at noon and awards at 3:00 p.m.
