Peers Convene For Annual RTA Conference
The San Antonio Riverwalk Marriott in San Antonio, Texas, was the site of the recent 107th Railway Tie Association (RTA) Annual Conference.
Marketed as a premier event, this annual gathering unites professionals from across the wood tie and railroad industries: sawmill owners, wood treaters, railroad engineers and procurement personnel, and many others who support RTA’s efforts to promote the long-term sustainability of the wooden railroad tie, and many more.
Informative sessions led by industry experts covered key topics such as:
Challenges and Opportunities in the Hardwood Marketplace
Legislative Affairs
Sustainability Practices
Research and Innovation
Railroad Engineering Projects
Short Line & Regional Railroads
Class I Procurement Trends and Expectations
Networking opportunities included golf and receptions.
The Railway Tie Association was organized in 1919. Predecessor groups, dating back to the late 1800s, including The National Association of Railroad Tie Producers, supported the railroad tie industry and worked to preserve forests through conservation.
