A&M Hardwoods, headquartered in Dundee, OH, has become a trusted name in the hardwood distribution industry. With a focus on providing quality domestic hardwoods, the company purchases around 20 million board feet of hardwood lumber annually. Their impressive scale allows them to serve both small and large customers efficiently.

The company prides itself on its diverse offerings, which extend beyond just hardwood lumber. In addition to their extensive hardwood selection, A&M provides a variety of sheet goods and value-added products, including cut-to-size and rip services, along with custom moulding production. These capabilities allow A&M to cater to a wide range of industries, from furniture makers and cabinet makers to contractors and commercial clients.
“We’ve been in the business since 2009, and over the years, we’ve expanded our offerings and refined our operations to meet the growing needs of our customers,” said Daryl Miller, the purchasing manager at A&M. “We aim to provide our clients with high-quality materials and exceptional service that sets us apart in the marketplace.”

With four locations across Ohio, Indiana and Illinois, A&M is making strides to increase its footprint to 178,000 square feet by the end of 2025.
A&M’s commitment to quality starts with its sourcing capabilities. The company works directly with mills across the United States and Canada to procure its domestic hardwoods. By cutting out the middleman and dealing directly with mills, A&M is able to maintain better control over the quality of their lumber, ensuring that every board meets the high standards they set for themselves.
In addition to their sourcing, A&M is known for its meticulous grading process. The company has a state-of-the-art grading line where hardwood lumber is visually inspected and graded as it is received. This careful attention to detail helps ensure that only the finest material makes it into their inventory.
“We receive all our lumber, and then we visually inspect it before it goes in inventory. Our grading line allows us to sort the wood based on quality, color and specific characteristics, so we can meet the precise needs of our customers,” explained Miller.

“We can tailor each order to fit our customers’ exact specifications, and we ship our average order within a week, which is something our customers really appreciate,” said Abraham Raber, president of A&M Hardwoods.
A&M also boasts an extensive array of equipment designed to streamline their operations. The company operates double sided planers, optimizing chop saws, moulders and sanders, along with Cameron optimizing rip saws, which allow for precision cutting and maximum yields. Also, the company currently is in the process of adding a new 20,000 square foot expansion to its facility in Dundee to hold a new USNR scanner and dual Ultimizers chop saws line which will increase its cut-to-length material production capacity from two truckloads per week to eight.
“We care about the environment and the future of the forestry industry. We work with mills that adhere to responsible practices, and we’re committed to offering sustainable products to our customers.”

A&M’s continued growth is reflected in their facility expansion plans. With four locations across Ohio, Indiana and Illinois, A&M is making strides to increase its footprint. The company currently operates out of a total of 130,000 square feet of warehouse space, with plans to expand to 178,000 square feet by the end of 2025. These expansions will further enhance their ability to serve customers with faster turnaround times and a broader range of products.
“We’re always looking for ways to improve and grow,” Miller said. “We’re adding new equipment and expanding our space so we can handle more volume and offer even better service to our customers.”
One of the core strengths of A&M is its commitment to building lasting relationships with its clients. Whether it’s a small custom order or a large commercial project, the company works closely with its customers to ensure their needs are met.

“We receive all our lumber, and then we visually inspect it before it goes in inventory. Our grading line allows us to sort the wood based on quality, color and specific characteristics, so we can meet the precise needs of our customers,” explained Daryl Miller, purchasing manager at A&M Hardwoods.
“We pride ourselves on providing a personalized experience,” said Abraham Raber, the president of A&M. “Our customers come to us because they know we’ll take the time to understand their needs and deliver a product that exceeds expectations. The key to exceeding customer expectations and the main drive behind our growth has been our team. In addition to their strong customer relationships, A&M is well-known for their ability to handle special orders. “We offer a range of options, from different species of wood to custom proprietary grades,” Raber explained. “We can tailor each order to fit our customers’ exact specifications, and we ship our average order within a week, which is something our customers really appreciate.”
A&M also places a high value on sustainability. As a company that deals exclusively in domestic hardwoods, they are dedicated to supporting responsible forestry practices. By sourcing their wood from reputable mills and ensuring that their lumber is sustainably harvested, A&M ensures that they are part of a greater effort to preserve the forests that supply their materials.
“We care about the environment and the future of the forestry industry,” Raber shared. “We work with mills that adhere to responsible practices and we’re committed to offering sustainable products to our customers.”
A&M is also actively engaged in its community. In addition to serving clients across the U.S., they have worked on several significant projects, such as Starbucks Coffee Co. and the house of Elon Musk, including a recent donation of wood products to a local children’s library.
“Giving back is something that is very important to us,” said Miller. “We’ve donated materials and worked on community projects that help make a positive impact, and we’re always looking for ways to support local initiatives.”
Looking ahead, A&M plans to continue expanding its reach while maintaining the same level of service and commitment to quality that has made them successful.
“We’re excited about the future,” Raber said. “We’re going to keep growing, adding new products, expanding our facilities and continuing to build strong relationships with our customers.”
With a solid reputation built on a foundation of quality products, expert craftsmanship, strong customer relationships and integrity, A&M is poised to remain a leader in the domestic hardwood industry. Their commitment to excellence and continued expansion ensures that they will continue to meet the needs of customers for years to come.
