Kennebec Lumber Offers Northern Hardwood Species

Chantal Callahan is a hardwood industrial sales representative, as well as marketing manager, for Kennebec Lumber Company. Headquartered in Solon, ME, Kennebec Lumber purchases between four and five million board feet of hardwood lumber annually.
Kennebec Lumber has multiple sawmill operations specializing in hardwood lumber, softwood lumber and hardwood flooring. The company’s offerings include Northern Red Oak, Northern Hard Maple, Northern Red Maple, Northern Yellow Birch, Northern White Ash and Eastern White Pine in sizes 4/4, 5/4, 6/4 and 8/4. Grades of available lumber include Prime, No. 1 Common and Better, No.1 Common, No. 2 Common, No. 3 Common, live sawn and mill run. In addition to its general sawmill services, Kennebec Lumber also operates air-drying and kiln-drying facilities.
Callahan grew up in the forest products industry and represents the fourth generation of her family to work for Kennebec Lumber. Starting as a marketing intern with Kennebec Lumber in 2014, Callahan ultimately transitioned to sales positions in hardwood industrials and hardwood flooring. She said that growing up with family in the industry prepared her for success and recalls visiting logging operations, chip plants, sawmills and equipment manufacturers as a child.
She graduated from University of South Maine, Portland, ME, with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Married to Conor Callahan for more than six years, the couple has two children: Carli and Camryn. When she isn’t working, Callahan enjoys spending time outdoors and coaching youth sports.
Kennebec Lumber maintains memberships with the National Wood Flooring Association, National Hardwood Lumber Association and New England Lumbermen’s Association.

Custom Plastic And Wood LLC Specializes In Moulding And Millwork
Darrel Jones is vice president and co-owner of Custom Plastic and Wood LLC, located in Benton, AR. Jones also owns Darrel Jones Development, LLC for residential construction and a rental division.
Custom Plastic and Wood (CP&W) is a manufacturer of custom solid hardwood mouldings, one-piece cabinet doors, five-piece cabinet doors, as well as commercial and high-end residential cabinets. The company purchases 125,000 board feet of hardwood species per year, including Maple, Alder, Knotty Alder, Poplar, Red Oak, Hickory, Cherry and Beech (mostly FAS, S2S and 13/16). Some pine is also purchased for use in manufacturing.
Lumber is straight-line ripped onsite and the company also offers CNC services.
Custom cabinets have become the second largest division of the company. The company produces 4,000-6,000 cabinet doors a month. With the majority being one-piece MDF. These are produced off their three CNC routers. Between cabinet doors and cabinet parts, they use approximately 1,200 sheets a month between MDF and plywoods.
Jones and his business partner Curtis Lowry founded CP&W approximately 24 years ago. Jones and Lowry share the common goal of “helping grow our customer’s business.”
Jones is a graduate of Gurdon High School, located in Gurdon, AR, and Southern Arkansas University Tech, located in Camden, AR. His first job in the forest products industry was in 1986 working as a summer hire at the plywood division of International Paper, also in Gurdon. Other positions held include MDF moulding manufacturer at Nickell Moulding, previously called NMC Finishing and sawmill machinery design at USNR. In his current position Jones handles lumber purchasing, new business development, estimating, tool design, planning, customer service, project management and product design. Curtis Lowry and John Langford have stepped up to help Jones with the majority of lumber purchasing.
In his spare time, Jones enjoys volunteering at his church, fishing for crappie, SEC football, college baseball and hunting. He has been married to Elizabeth for 35 years and the couple has one daughter.

Ubelhor Woodworking Inc. Manufactures Moulding And Dimension Parts
Zach Ubelhor is president of and handles lumber purchasing for Ubelhor Woodworking Inc., located in Bristow, IN.
Ubelhor Woodworking is a manufacturer of moulding and dimension parts for use in furniture making. The company purchases an annual volume of approximately 1 million board feet of Ash, European Beech, Cherry, Hickory, Hard and Soft Maple, Red and White Oak, Poplar and Walnut. Grades purchased include FAS, Select and Better, No. 1 Common, both surfaced and un-surfaced.
Added-value services offered by the company include planing, shaping, straight-line ripping, moulding, glued paneling, sanding, tenoning, and boring. Ubelhor Woodworking also offers a CNC machining center, miter lock and in-house tool making for shorter lead times for customers.
Ubelhor is a graduate of Perry Central High School, located in Leopold, IN. One of his first jobs in the forest products industry was working alongside his father and eldest son to form a family-owned construction business. He has been president of Ubelhor Woodworking working alongside his brother and vice president, Luke, since 1994 when the company was founded. In 2003, his son, Kyle, started as a vital part of the family-run business.
Ubelhor Woodworking is a member of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business.
Ubelhor and his wife of 45 years, Brenda, have two sons, Kyle and Zane and two grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing and drag racing.
