The 40th Annual Golf Tournament of the Inland Lumber Producers (ILP) was recently held at the Coeur d’Alene Resort in Coeur d’Alene, ID with approximately 400 in attendance.

The tournament was a two-day event that included 212 golfers.

Additionally, Hayden Lake Country Club served as the site for the annual ILP horse race format. The Empire Lumber Co. sponsored team took first place, represented by Dane Waters of Idaho Pacific Lumber Co. and Riley McCoy of Western Timber. The second place team, sponsored by Clearwater Forest Industries consisted of Riley Tough of Skana Forest Products and Zach Spohn of Wildwood Grilling. Coming in third place was the Columbia Cedar sponsored team, comprised of Pat Duchien of Bitterroot Valley Forest Products and Peter Howe of TriStar Companies.

A barbecue dinner ended the day.

Additionally, Duane Vaagen, president of owner of Vaagen Brothers Lumber, presented John Branstetter with a lifetime achievement award at the ILP during the Friday night banquet. He spoke of Branstetter’s commitment and integrity and the fact that he has served on the ILP board for 40 years, helping to make the golf tournament “the best lumber event in the industry.”

Vaagen said, “John has worked the registration for the ILP every year, and worked for Vaagen for 49 years from when he started his career in May of 1995. John logged his way through college from 1970-1975.”
