Brandon Norris is a junior lumber buyer at Wellborn Cabinets, located in Ashland, AL. Norris has been a lumber buyer for the company since October 2023. His responsibilities include purchasing lumber, while maintaining inventory levels that meet the company’s standards. Wellborn Cabinets manufactures kitchen and bath cabinets and purchases nearly 6 million board feet of Hard Maple, 1.2 million board feet of Cherry and 2 million board feet of Sweet Gum, in grades No. 2 Common and Better and in 1 1/8-inch thickness.

Norris has been in the forest products industry for nine years.

Norris graduated from Wadley High School in Wadley, AL. He graduated from the 175th Inspector Training School at the National Hardwood Lumber Association, in Memphis, TN. He also went to dry kiln school in Raleigh, NC at North Carolina State College, where he learned how to operate dry kilns and the process of drying lumber.

Norris enjoys hunting, fishing and coaching his daughter’s softball team, as well as spending time with family. He has been married to Camry Norris for three years and has two daughters, Addison and Grier Norris.

Wellborn Cabinets is a member of National Kitchen and Bath Association, Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association, National Association of Home Builders, National Association of Remodeling Industry, Hardwood Manufacturers Association, National Hardwood Lumber Association and Indiana Hardwood Lumbermens Association.

Matt Shaw is in lumber purchasing and industrial sales for Mill Creek Lumber, located in Oklahoma City, OK.

Mill Creek purchases approximately 300,000 board feet of lumber annually. Products are as follows: 4/4 Select and Better Soft Maple; 4/4 Select and Better PS, Rift, and Quartered White Oak; 4/4 Select and Better Rift White Oak; 4/4 Select and Better Walnut; 4/4 FAS Poplar; 4/4 FAS Red Oak; 4/4 Knotty Alder, 4/4 African Mahogany; 4/4 Pecky Cypress; and 4/4 moulding grade pine.

Among the unique services and value-added processes offered at Mill Creek are custom mouldings, wood arches, edge-glue and fingerjoint capabilities.

Shaw has been in his current position at Mill Creek Lumber for over four years. He has been in the forest products industry for nearly 20 years, having most recently worked for a building products wholesaler for seven years. His first job in the industry was working at his family’s business and selling wood mouldings.

Shaw graduated Choctaw High School in Choctaw, OK and studied at Hillsdale FWB College in Moore, OK.

He has been married to Melissa for seven years. They are parents of one son (Grayson) and two daughters (Logan and Teagan)

In his spare time, Shaw enjoys sports, hunting and outdoor grilling.

Salena Ball and husband Kent Barnes are co-owners of Hardwood Floors                                                                    of Hillsboro LLC, located in Hillsboro, WI. She handles lumber purchasing, accounting and sales, as well as overseeing daily operations.

Hardwood Floors of Hillsboro is a manufacturer of 3/4-inch solid, un-finished Hardwood flooring. The company purchases a yearly volume of approximately 5 million board feet of Northern Hardwood lumber, including Red and White Oak, Ash, Cherry, Birch, Red Elm, Hickory, Hard Maple, Black Walnut, and Rift/ Quartered Red and White Oak. All lumber purchases are surfaced to 15/16” thickness with proper moisture content 6-8 percent. The majority of lumber grade(s) purchased are No. 1 Common and No. 2A with some upper grades procured for special orders and/or long length specifications. Flooring requests in custom thickness (from 3/8” and thicker) and custom plank face options (from 1.5″ up to 9″) and custom lengths are available.

 Value-added services include truckload and less-than-truckload deliveries for unfinished wood flooring materials, herringbone flooring materials, and micro bevel 2-sided or 4-sided are milling options. Also available are custom milled “specialty grained” domestic Hardwoods ie: birdseye, curly, and quilted. These limited Hardwood options are available by an accumulation basis from their lumber sources.

Ball attended South Dakota State University, located in Brookings, SD. Her first position in the forest products industry began in 1990 working at Wolohan Lumber where she was a cabinet designer and sales representative.

Hardwood Floors of Hillsboro is a member of the National Wood Flooring Association.
