The Southern Cypress Manufacturers Association (SCMA) recently gathered for its 2023 Annual Meeting at the JW Marriott in Nashville, Tennessee. At the two-day event, held March 21–22 in conjunction with the Hardwood Manufacturers Association’s National Conference and Expo, members and promotion sponsors were updated on SCMA activities, previewed upcoming projects, elected officers, and enjoyed a networking reception and dinner.
Here’s a brief overview of what’s on tap this year.
A Renovated Website
The SCMA launched a completely revamped home on the web at www.CypressInfo.org. The new site is a powerful promotion tool and will serve as a hub of information for consumers and design professionals who are looking to learn more about the beautiful, durable, and versatile species.
The site features an improved user experience with fluid navigation to assist information seekers in finding information quickly. A new Inspiration Center targets homeowners with trendy content on a variety of topics; vibrant photography of indoor and outdoor applications; case studies featuring project architect and designer interviews; and DIY projects with video tutorials and articles for weekend doers and hobbyists.
A Specification and Technical Data tab provides a wealth of information for architects, designers, and builders. The section provides details on grade rules, drying guidelines, engineering design values, span tables, and working properties that design and building pros utilize every day.
There’s also an Installation and Finishing tab that features siding and decking installation guidelines with handy tips and tricks. There, visitors also can find finishing information with best practices for sealing, staining, and painting Cypress.
A new and improved Members Only section provides active SCMA members with a number of association resources to use in their businesses, marketing collateral, a monthly member newsletter, and upcoming meeting details and past meeting archives.
New Editorial Features
With the spring/summer renovation season on the horizon, the SCMA is publishing a series of new editorial features that will be placed in newspapers, on news websites, and on social media. Through interviews with design pros and dazzling photos, the SCMA will influence homeowners as they reimagine their living spaces through a number of topics ranging from home design projects to furniture upgrades to fresh décor ideas. Keep a look out for more details.
Get On Board
The SCMA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of Cypress building products to design professionals and consumers. Membership is limited to companies engaged in the manufacture, processing, or distribution of Cypress products. And if that describes your company, it’s time to get on board.
