US LBM Acquires Florida’s Manning Building Supplies

US LBM, a leading distributor of specialty building materials in the United States, recently acquired Manning Building Supplies, a top provider of building products and manufactured components to professional builders throughout Eastern and Central Florida.

Founded in 1979, Manning’s product portfolio includes lumber and trusses, along with custom doors, windows and millwork, which it also provides installation services for.

Headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, Manning operates nine locations throughout Florida, seven building materials distribution yards, six of which include custom door shops, and two truss manufacturing plants in Jacksonville and Ocala.

With this acquisition, US LBM now operates 19 locations in Florida, which includes five truss manufacturing facilities.

Nation’s Best Acquires Adams Building Supplies In Georgia

Nation’s Best recently announced their acquisition of Adams Building Supplies of Georgia. Fourth-generation, two-location Adams Building Supplies was founded in 1917 and caters to the high-end custom home builder with a mix of premium lumber and building material products.

Adams Building Supplies is the first Georgia-based business in the Nation’s Best portfolio, which includes 51 locations in 15 states.

As part of Nation’s Best’s strategy, according to a company statement, Adams Building Supplies will lease the real estate from the owners, maintain operations under their existing name, and retain the core team overseeing company operations alongside Nation’s Best. Additionally, Nation’s Best, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, will provide the strategic and financial support necessary to “drive optimal growth and profitability.”

Spahn & Rose Lumber Co. Set To Acquire City Lumber Co.

Spahn & Rose Lumber Co., of Dubuque, Iowa, has entered into an agreement to purchase City Lumber Co., a lumber and building-materials supplier, truss manufacturer and hardware store in Huntsville, AL.

City Lumber was founded in 1974 and Dick Strobel steadily grew the business over the decades, emphasizing community involvement while providing high-quality building materials to northern Alabama. In 2010, Strobel’s daughter Gina and son-in-law Jason Terry purchased the company.

The name will remain City Lumber, and local management will not change. City Lumber is known throughout north-central Alabama for providing high-quality building materials such as decking, doors, siding and windows.

The company’s truss manufacturing capabilities help contractors and builders save time and money.

Spahn & Rose has 25 locations throughout, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Georgia and now Alabama. The acquisition bolsters Spahn & Rose’s presence in the Southeast. Founded in 1904, Spahn & Rose is a leading lumber distributor in the Midwest.

The acquisition of City Lumber marks the fifth recent major addition for Spahn & Rose, which also includes Dunn Lumber in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, in February 2019; Moeller & Walter Lumber in Reinbeck, Iowa, in February 2020.

Henery Hardware Inc. Acquires Washington Dealers

Henery Hardware Inc., based in Port Townend, WA, has increased to six locations across Washington State with its acquisition of Hadlock Building Supply, Port Hadlock, WA, and Deer Park Ace Hardware, Deer Park, WA.

Henery Hardware offers a variety of lumber products that include, but are not limited to, Pine, Hemlock, Cedar and birch.

Henery Hardware has already begun transitioning the stores’ co-op affiliations to Do it Best—Hadlock from True Value, Deer Park from Ace. Both stores will undergo a complete store reset, including interior and exterior upgrades, layout updates and product additions.

According to Henery Hardware, these acquisitions strengthen each locally-owned business’s commitment to providing high-quality home improvement products and comprehensive services to their pro and DIY customers alike.

The company plans to retain all Hadlock Building Supply and Deer Park Ace Hardware associates.
