Indianapolis, IN–The American Walnut Manufacturers Association (AWMA) held its annual membership business meeting recently at the Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen’s Association Convention and Exposition, which was held here.

Members discussed all things Walnut that included short supplies of logs and green lumber, diminishing margins between green and kiln-dried lumber and continued labor shortages. Export demand for Walnut has increased in recent weeks and members were optimistic that the trend will continue in 2023.

AWMA members also discussed the need to continue outreach programs focused on architects and designers and will consider sponsoring a design contest at a future international trade show. AWMA’s Executive Director Brian Brookshire represented the membership at Indiawood and the Dubai Wood show in early March.

Their next scheduled meeting will be in conjunction with the National Hardwood Lumber Association convention this fall.
