Equipment Industry Veteran Assists In SII Dry-Kiln Sales

Bob Pope

Bob Pope is a regional sales representative for SII Dry Kilns, headquartered in Lexington, NC. His territory is in the Northeastern U.S. and Eastern Canada.

SII Dry Kilns is a full-service dry kiln manufacturer with installations primarily across the U.S. and Canada. As a full-service manufacturer, SII offers custom designed package kilns, track kilns, dual path continuous kilns, computerized control systems, large capacity center fan wall package kilns, heat treaters, cross flow pre-dryers and fan sheds. The firm also offers vacuum and thermal modification kilns through WDE Maspell.

Pope joined SII in 2017 after a 30-year career with another kiln manufacturer. He has been involved in the forest products industry for over 47 years and started his career as a lumber grader with a furniture company. Since 1977, he has helped train many kiln operators as an instructor with a number of different kiln-drying workshops across North America. He also has provided individual/small group on-site training.

Pope earned a Master of Business Administration and a B.S. in Wood Science and Technology. In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking, attending bluegrass music festivals and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Henry Schoonmaker

Henry Schoonmaker is a lumber and panel trader at Patrick Lumber located in Portland, OR. He focuses primarily on North American industrial markets,

building client relationships and delivering custom solutions. He has been with Patrick Lumber for eight months with seven years of industry experience.

Patrick Lumber is a secondary lumber manufacturer with customers across the world. They produce more than 40 million board feet of lumber each year, specializing in cut-to-size solutions for both lumber and panel products, offering a wide selection of species like Douglas Fir, Pine, Cedar and Hemlock.

The lumber and panel products are offered in both the cut-to-size solution and raw with a variety of patterns and grades. Patrick Lumber is a member of the North American Wholesale Lumber Association.

Jamie Hursh is a sales representative for Richardson Timbers LLC, located in Dallas, TX, and has been with the company for 32 years.

Richardson Timbers, founded in 1949, is a wholesale-only timber milling company that specializes in custom timbers, millwork and remanufacturing, with an annual production of several million board feet of lumber. They offer No.1 and Better Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar in sizes up to 20×20 with lengths to 40 feet; kiln-dried Fir and mixed hardwoods in sizes up to 12×12 with lengths to 24 feet; and Specialty Exotic Timbers. The company also offers upper-grade Fir, Western Red Cedar and Hemlock boards in random lengths. Now offering Red Grandis and Accoya boards in random lengths.

The company specializes in siding stock and cut details including Corbels, Brackets, Arches, Rafter Tails and Tank Cradles. They also offer Precision End Trim (PET), surfaces up to 20×20 at 40 feet, and Tru-Ruf, which provides four bright, clean rough faces to the timbers.

Northeastern Softwood Manufacturer Offers Custom Finishing And More

Tonia Tibbetts

At Searsmont, ME-based, Robbins Lumber Inc., Tonia Tibbettshas been welcomed back after a brief leave with a retail lumber yard. She is responsible for retail sales, wholesale distribution accounts, and assisting with marketing efforts. She also covers the Northern crown of Maine for the company.

Robbins Lumber is a manufacturer that sells to the United States and Canada, producing 50 million board feet across both locations: Searsmont and East Baldwin. Robbins Lumber carries Eastern White Pine in 4/4 and 5/4 and all NELMA grades and patterns. Robbins Lumber also can end match boards and carries specialty products such as live edge siding and wide Pine flooring. Every product is kiln-dried at a moisture content of 10 to 12 percent.

Robbins Lumber has its own prefinishing facility, can custom finish their products and offers different colors and finish types. In addition, the company stocks primed and clear coated products in several widths and patterns.

Tibbetts has been with Robbins Lumber for a total of 14 years. She started part-time in 2008 by answering incoming calls and handling administrative tasks. She joined the sales team full-time within the year and began her career in the lumber industry.

Tibbetts enjoys traveling with her family and loves Disney. Her hobbies include paper crafting and designing homemade cards for her family and friends. She and Mark, her husband of 30 years, have a daughter named Mallory.

Robbins Lumber Inc. is a member of the Northeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association, the American Lumber Standard Committee, the New England Kiln Drying Association, the North American Wholesale Lumber Association and the Retail Lumber Dealers Association of Maine.
